Fantasy Upside
Turbin’s upside only comes with an injury to Frank Gore and winning the back-up job in training camp over Josh Ferguson, Tyler Varga, and Jordan Todman. He flashed a few games last season with limited carries, with four games rushing for more than five yards per carry, but he’s strictly a potential handcuff entering 2016.
Fantasy Downside
Turbin was cited for marijuana possession July 8th during a traffic stop. It was only a marijuana butt in the center console, and Turbin wasn’t impaired and was allowed to drive off, but NFL rules may not care about such things. The court process is yet to play out, but marijuana is a banned substance in the NFL, and the punishment through the league for a first offense is suspension without pay for up to four regular or post-season games. Add this to a question of whether Turbin will even make the 53-man roster.
Bottom Line
Turbin is not a player you should be drafting in 2016, unless he wins the back-up role in Indianapolis and Frank Gore gets hurt. Even then, we don’t know if the back-up RB with the COlts would get Gore’s share of touches if he went down.
