NYG WR Roger Lewis - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Roger Lewis was third on the team last season with 416 yards after multiple injuries to the Giants' receiving corps forced him into action. Lewis has some upside as a deep threat and he should be in line for slot work this season, with the potential to step in outside if Odell Beckham Jr. or Sterling Shepard suffer injuries like they did last year. If that happens, Lewis could develop into a spot-starter in most fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Downside

Despite the opportunities he was given last season, Lewis caught only 50 percent of the 72 passes thrown his way and scored only twice all season. Lewis has potential, but he doesn’t look ready to be a primary receiver, and while opportunity rules in fantasy, he’s unlikely to become more than a fifth option for the team in the passing game. Beckham, Shepard, tight end Evan Engram, and rookie first-round running back Saquon Barkley will all be viewed as better options for Eli Manning.

2018 Bottom Line

Lewis should remain on waivers to start the season, and barring injuries, he’s unlikely to make much of a fantasy impact. The Giants used to be able to sustain three receivers, but it’s been a long time since that was the case, and with the other weapons on the roster, it’s hard to imagine Lewis getting enough looks to be relevant.

NYG WR Roger Lewis - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Roger Lewis only had 1 catch and 15 yards last week against a tough Denver defense. While he’s the last man standing at the WR position for the Giants, this probably isn’t the week to use him. The Seahawks have only allowed 4 passing touchdowns so far this season and they’re ninth in the league in passing yards allowed per game. Lewis has long-term potential for when the schedule eases up, but this isn’t a good week to start him.
