Scouting report

HOU WR Stefon Diggs - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Stefon Diggs is the new kid in town after the blockbuster deal brought the wide receiver to Houston. Diggs was a top-15 fantasy wide receiver, a season that included five 100-yard games in the first six weeks of the season. He now joins a prolific offense in Houston that should continue to let C.J. Stroud toss the football around, which should mean plenty of targets for Diggs.

Fantasy Downside

As good as Diggs started the season, that's how quietly he ended the season. Diggs had six games out of the last eight with less than 50 yards receiving and went without a touchdown in his final five games. Only twice since Week 10 did Diggs reach double-digit fantasy points.

2024 Bottom Line

Could people be overthinking Diggs' potential decline? Perhaps, but he is 30 years old. That said, he joins a Texans offense that will have defenses having to respect Nico Collins and Tank Dell, which will open up room for Diggs. Consider Diggs a WR3 in drafts with WR2 upside near the 5th round.

BUF WR Stefon Diggs - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New England Patriots
Stefon Diggs had five receptions for only 29 yards last Saturday as his mini slump continues. He was under double-digit targets for the second straight week and hasn't had a 100+ yard receiving game since Week 6. The Bills offense has played better in recent weeks, but it hasn't helped his production.

Diggs faces the Patriots who are 24th in aFPA to wide receivers. In the first meeting with New England, he had six receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown and also had double-digit targets.

Start Diggs for Week 17 but not in his usual WR1 ranking. He comes in this week as a high-end WR2 against the Pats. He has definitely been a fantasy disappointment over the past several games and can't be counted on to come out of it this week.

BUF WR Stefon Diggs - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Los Angeles Chargers
The Bills only threw the ball 15 times last Sunday and five of those targets were to Stefon Diggs. The numbers weren't great but considering the lack of passing, Diggs still ended up with four receptions for 48 yards. The problem wasn't that game but the two month stretch which has not seen him have 100+ receiving yards since Week 6. His stock has fallen as the season has progressed.

This could be a good week to get out of his slump as Diggs faces the Chargers who are ranked 27th in aFPA to wide receivers. The favorable matchup and the expectation that Buffalo will get back to throwing the ball 30+ times means Diggs is a good play this Saturday.

Start Diggs as a WR1 for Week 16. He should have a minimum of six receptions for 70+ yards and if they can hit a big play with him, he could finally eclipse the 100-yard mark again.

BUF WR Stefon Diggs - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Dallas Cowboys
Stefon Diggs had double-digit targets for the second straight week, but his fantasy numbers were low once again. He ended up with four receptions for 24 yards. He hasn't had a 100-yard receiving game since Week 6 and has been over 75 yards only once since then.

Diggs faces the Cowboys who are ranked ninth in aFPA to wide receivers. It's hard to think this will be the week for him to come out of his slump.

Start Diggs but only as a low-end WR1 for Week 15. The targets the last two weeks are encouraging, but the matchup and recent numbers are the reason for a lower ranking than managers are used to.

BUF WR Stefon Diggs - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Kansas City Chiefs
Before the bye week, Stefon Diggs had his first double-digit target game since Week 8. He also added his first touchdown in three games so you hope he is coming back to life after a mini-slump. We know he can be one of the most productive wide receivers in the NFL, but he disappears at times.

Diggs will face the Chiefs who are ranked 19th in aFPA to wide receivers. In the meeting with KC last season, he had 10 receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. Bills fans are hoping for a repeat performance and although he probably won't put up those numbers, it should be a good day for Diggs.

Start him as a low-end WR1 for Week 14. The numbers were better last game, but overall the Bills need find more ways to get Diggs the football.

BUF WR Stefon Diggs - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Philadelphia Eagles
Stefon Diggs has made waves with his body language and comments, but it's hard for that to work when the Bills win big and are committed to the run. He ended up with eight targets, but the fantasy numbers were still low. He hasn't had a 100+ receiving yard game since Week 6 or double-digit targets since Week 8.

Diggs will face the Eagles who have been vulnerable against the pass despite their winning ways. Philly is ranked 31st in aFPA to wide receivers. It's a great chance to get back on track for the Buffalo star receiver.

Start Diggs as a low-end WR1 for Week 12. Despite the favorable matchup, the recent production has us hesitant to think Diggs will put up one of those big games. However, he should still put up decent numbers.

BUF WR Stefon Diggs - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. New York Jets
Stefon Diggs had his worst game of the season and the drama continues in Buffalo, especially when he doesn't get the ball. He had season-lows in targets (5), catches (3) and receiving yards (34). Even though his managers were disappointed, that usually means the Bills will make a concerted effort to get him the ball.

It won't be easy against the Jets who are ranked No. 1 in aFPA to wide receivers. However, Diggs had 10 receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting with the Jets.

Start Diggs as a low-end WR1 for Week 11. Yes, that's lower than usual and we expect him to have a bounce back game, but New York's pass defense remains one of the best in the NFL so we will damper our expectations.
