CLE WR Taylor Gabriel - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Taylor Gabriel at Atlanta Falcons
Taylor Gabriel keeps making plays for the Browns. The undrafted rookie hauled in five passes for 92 yards in Week 11. However, Gabriel is one of those guys who falls under the dreaded banner of “better real world than fantasy player” as his production has been inconsistent. With Josh Gordon back, he drops further down the pecking order and belongs on the waiver wire.

CLE WR Taylor Gabriel - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Taylor Gabriel vs. Houston Texans
After his best performance of the season in Week 9, Taylor Gabriel’s production dropped in Week 10 as the Browns rode their running game to a 24-3 victory over Cincinnati. Gabriel ended up with three receptions for 31 yards. Because the Browns have not been relying on one main pass catcher, Gabriel has a decent role in the offense, but his overall production has been very spotty. His low level of reliability keeps him out of WR3 territory.

CLE WR Taylor Gabriel - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Taylor Gabriel at Cincinnati Bengals
The 5-3 Browns have been a pleasant surprise, and one of the reasons for Cleveland’s unexpected success is Taylor Gabriel. The undrafted free agent from Abilene Christian, which is also the same school Cleveland running backs coach Wilbert Montgomery attended, had his best day as a pro Sunday, catching five passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. If Andrew Hawkins is limited or unable to play Thursday night, Gabriel would in theory be Cleveland’s top receiver. Nonetheless, the Browns still utilize a balanced approach in the passing game and the Bengals don’t give up a lot of touchdown passes. Gabriel needs to be viewed as a WR4 even with a bunch of teams taking the week off.

CLE WR Taylor Gabriel - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Taylor Gabriel vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Taylor Gabriel continues to provide an occasional spark for the Browns. He had a 48-yard reception in Cleveland's 23-13 victory over Oakland last Sunday. While Gabriel has been a pleasant surprise for a team that rarely hits home runs at the wide receiver position (outside of Josh Gordon), his playing time and opportunities are erratic, leaving him with little to no fantasy value.

CLE WR Taylor Gabriel - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Taylor Gabriel vs. Oakland Raiders
Taylor Gabriel was targeted seven times in Cleveland’s disastrous 24-6 loss to Jacksonville, but finished with three receptions for 39 yards. Considering Brian Hoyer’s incompetency during that contest, it was not a terrible showing. Nonetheless, Gabriel is a role player in an offense that showed serious regression. He does not belong on fantasy rosters.

CLE WR Taylor Gabriel - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Taylor Gabriel at Jacksonville Jaguars
After catching one pass for 24 yards on Sunday, Taylor Gabriel has 11 receptions for 218 yards and zero touchdowns through the first five games of his career. Gabriel has been a bit of a find for the Browns, but his fantasy value is nonexistent.

CLE WR Taylor Gabriel - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Taylor Gabriel vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Rookie Taylor Gabriel continues to make plays for Cleveland. In week five, he hauled in four passes for 95 yards. Nonetheless, the 5’8” Gabriel has yet to score a touchdown and plays in an offense that spreads the wealth at the wide receiver position. Maybe things will change as the season progresses, but for now, Gabriel is still too risky to rely on.
