Scouting report

MIN QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Teddy Bridgewater - Week 11 vs. Chicago

Teddy Bridgewater has scored a touchdown in all but one start so far this season. The only downside to that is he hasn't scored multiple touchdowns in any game. He's been playing better lately, with improved passing yards and no interceptions in his last two games.

This week he gets one of the best matchups there is. The Chicago Bears have massively struggled lately, allowing 11 touchdowns to QBs in the last two games. Quarterbacks have also gone over 300 yards in those games.

Bridgewater's stats so far make him a risk, but the matchup gives him promise. He'll be a QB2 with big upside this week.

MIN QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Teddy Bridgewater - Week 9 vs. Washington

Looking at Teddy Bridgewater's season as a whole you'd say he hasn't performed well. His TD-INT ratio is 2-5 and he's averaging 220 yards in his four starts. But a closer look shows he's performed well in favorable matchups and struggled in difficult ones.

The Lions and Bills (Bridgewater's two worst games) have allowed the fewest and the third fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs this season, respectively. When he gets better matchups (Atlanta, Tampa Bay) he's been serviceable.

He'll get another favorable matchup this week against Washington. The Redskins have allowed multiple touchdown passes in each of their last six games. There's risk in playing Bridgewater because of his poor overall stats, but he's not a horrible option this week with six teams on bye.

MIN QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Teddy Bridgewater - Week 8 vs. Tampa Bay

Teddy Bridgewater's 300-yard rookie debut seems so long ago. In his last two games he's failed to reach 200 yards passing and has a 1-5 TD-INT ratio. He's also been sacked 13 times if you play in leagues that ding you for that. In short, he's been terrible. But that can all change this week.

Bridgewater will face a Buccaneers defense that has allowed over 300 passing yards in four consecutive games. The Bucs have also allowed 13 touchdown passes during that stretch.

Teddy comes with some risk considering his last two outings, but the matchup is definitely there. He's a decent option as a waiver quarterback this week.

MIN QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Teddy Bridgewater - Week 7 vs. Buffalo

Teddy Bridgewater came back down to earth in Week 6. He had a strong rookie debut against the Falcons in Week 4 throwing for over 300 yards (he missed Week 5 with an injury), but he had his welcome to the NFL moment against the Lions. Detroit picked him off three times and sacked him eight times. The Lions also held him to just 188 yards and no touchdowns.

He'll get a much easier matchup this week against Buffalo. The Bills allowed Tom Brady to throw all over them in Week 6. They're giving up an average of 284 passing yards a game.

It's difficult to trust Bridgewater after last week's debacle and that's why it's probably best to avoid him.

MIN QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Teddy Bridgewater - Week 6 vs. Detroit

Teddy Bridgewater was unable to play in Week 5 due to an injury he suffered in Week 4. He's had extra time to heal since Minnesota is coming off of a Thursday night game and should be ready to start in Week 6.

Before his injury there was a lot of hope for Bridgewater. He threw for 317 yards in his NFL debut and ran for 27 and a touchdown as well. He may not be able to post similar numbers this week in a tough matchup against Detroit.

The Lions have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs this season. A big reason is Detroit hasn't allowed more than one passing touchdown in any game this year. It's a pretty impressive feat considering today's NFL.

A rookie quarterback's second career start in a difficult matchup isn't exactly an ideal fantasy situation. He's not worth looking at this week.

MIN QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Teddy Bridgewater - Week 5 vs. Green Bay

Teddy Bridgewater is officially listed at questionable for Thursday night's game against the Packers. He injured his ankle during the team's Week 4 game and has missed practice on this short week to rest. His injury is a concern, but he's expected to play.

Before his injury, Bridgewater sure looked good in his NFL debut. He had thrown for over 300 yards and ran for 27 yards and a touchdown. He also committed no turnovers.

Despite his strong debut, we advise not to lean on Bridgewater this week. His bum ankle means he won't be 100 percent. He also draws a tough matchup against the Packers. He's one of the poorer QB plays this week, but the long-term outlook is good.

MIN QB Teddy Bridgewater - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Teddy Bridgewater - Week 4 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Teddy Bridgewater made his NFL debut last week after Matt Cassel's injury. Cassel has been placed on injured reserve, so the fate of the Vikings' passing attack is in the hands of Bridgewater now. For fantasy purposes this change at quarterback is seen as a plus. Cassel was struggling as he had a 3-4 TD-INT ratio on the season and was averaging less than 200 yards per game.

Bridgewater stepped in early in the second quarter and completed 12-of-20 passes for 150 yards. He also ran the ball six times for 27 yards, something we could see more of throughout the season.

This week he'll face a Falcons defense that has been pretty tough on opposing quarterbacks. It's not an ideal matchup for the rookie's first career start. It'd be best to look elsewhere this week.
