WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Scary Terry McLaurin started 2019 off on a historic pace becoming the first player with 5+ receptions and a touchdown in his first three NFL games. His pace slowed down a little bit after that, but he still had a strong rookie season, finishing 58-919-7 in 14 games. He faces an Eagles defense in Week 1 that allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing receivers last year. McLaurin certainly found success against Philly, finishing 5-125-1 and 5-130-1 last season. However, the Eagles added Darius Slay in free agency, and he could give McLaurin trouble. We like McLaurin as a strong WR2 play to start 2020.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Terry McLaurin had a breakout season finishing as the No. 2 fantasy rookie WR behind A.J. Brown. McLaurin finished with at least 15 PPR points in 7-of-14 games despite a carousel of bad quarterback play from three different starters. He’ll once again be the focal point in a weak WR corps that got even weaker with Kelvin Harmon’s ACL tear. An increase in targets is also likely as Washington brought in a new offensive coordinator with a faster-paced offense.

Fantasy Downside
The downside to McLaurin is the situation he’s in. Dwayne Haskins had poor quarterback play, which led to some really bad overall passing games from Washington in 2019. McLaurin had a three-game stretch last year where he went a combined 9-89-0. He’s also the only wide receiver in this offense who will scare defenses, so coordinators will target in on stopping him.

2020 Bottom Line
Assuming McLaurin plays in all 16 games, he should top 1,000 receiving yards. He fell just short of that mark last year (919). McLaurin is a talented player in a bad offense. We don’t expect him to dramatically improve his production this year, but we see similar/slightly better numbers from the Washington wideout. He should be viewed as a decent WR2 player in fantasy drafts. He was pretty reliable as a receiving threat in 2019, and should provide some consistency in your week-to-week lineup.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Dallas Cowboys

Terry McLaurin finished 7-86 on nine targets last week as he finishes the season on a high note. He's in the concussion protocol, however, and missed practice Thursday so his health is worth monitoring for this game. If he does play, he should be a good start as we've already seen him play well against Dallas earlier in the year, finishing 5-62-1 in Week 2. We like him as a strong WR2 play if he's active against the Cowboys in Week 17.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. New York Giants

Terry McLaurin continued his strong rookie season last week by finishing 5-130-1 against the Eagles. He's struggled at times this season, but that speaks more to Washington's passing game. In a great matchup against the Giants this week, we like McLaurin to produce low-end WR1 numbers. He's the go-to target in this offense, and should get the bulk of the production from Washington's passing game.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Despite the Redskins' troubles on offense, Terry McLaurin had a productive outing last week, finishing 4-57-1 on seven targets. He was one of just four Redskins receiving threats to see a target last week. He's Washington's primary offensive receiving weapon so that gives him some value each week. He should be viewed as a lower-end WR2 in a decent matchup against the Eagles in Week 15. He's the only Redskins receiver really worth considering.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Green Bay Packers

Terry McLaurin hasn't been nearly as scary as he was to start the year. He finished with a season-low 2-8 last week on just four targets. He also has not caught a touchdown in his last six games. Washington has moved to a run-first offense led by the duo of Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson. At this point, Terry McLaurin is a boom-or-bust WR3 in a decent matchup against the Packers.

WAS WR Terry McLaurin - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Carolina Panthers

Terry McLaurin is essentially the only Redskins receiver worth playing at this point as he saw double the amount of targets last week as any other wideout on the team. McLaurin finished 5-72 on 12 targets as he was just one of two receivers on the team to finish with double-digit yardage in receiving. McLaurin remains a low-end WR2 or strong WR3 this week in a decent matchup against the Panthers.
