Scouting report

LA RB Todd Gurley - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Atlanta
Todd Gurley rushed just 11 times for 38 yards while catching two-of-three targets for nine additional yards in the Rams' Week 13 loss to the Patriots. Not only has Gurley failed to reach the 100-yard mark in a single game this season, he hasn't even rushed for 90 yards. The Rams' offensive line gets no push in the running game and defenses don't have to worry about getting burned for loading the box because Los Angeles doesn't have a passing game either. Ranked as our RB16 for Week 14, Gurley has a great matchup against an Atlanta defense that ranks No. 29 against fantasy running backs this season but is nothing more than a low-end RB2.

LA RB Todd Gurley - Week 13, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at New England
Todd Gurley rushed 13 times for 50 yards while catching four-of-four targets for 39 yards in the Rams’ Week 12 loss to the Saints. If Gurley isn’t being limited by his own offensive line or offensive coordinator, his role is often diminished when the Rams fall behind like they did last Sunday in New Orleans. Gurley hasn’t rushed for 100 yards in any game this season and has been one of the biggest fantasy busts of 2016. Here’s the problem though: Due to his volume, he remains a viable option, even when his lack of production on Sundays is predictable. Ranked as our RB13, Gurley is a dicey RB2 play against a Patriots team that can also put the Rams behind early.

LA RB Todd Gurley - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New Orleans
Todd Gurley rushed 20 times for 76 yards and one touchdown in the Rams' Week 11 loss to the Dolphins. Gurley scored on a 24-yard scamper in the first quarter to get the scoring started but he was largely bottled up after that touchdown. He managed just 52 yards on his other 19 carries. Gurley ranks as our RB12 for Week 12 and thanks to his volume, he remains in the RB1 mix. The Saints rank as the No. 27 defense against fantasy running backs this season, so at least Gurley has a good matchup for Sunday.

LA RB Todd Gurley - Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Miami
Todd Gurley rushed for 64 yards on 21 carries while catching one pass for eight yards in the Rams' Week 10 win over the Jets. The Rams' offensive line is brutal and continues to open zero holes for Gurley in the running game. He repeatedly is bet in intended holes by defenders and usually has no shot at breaking off long runs. Still, because of his volume, he remains a RB2. On Sunday the Rams host the Dolphins, who rank as fantasy's No. 3 defense versus running games. Gurley ranks as our No. 12 running back for Week 11 and should be viewed as a RB2.

LA RB Todd Gurley Week 10, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at New York Jets
Todd Gurley rushed just 12 times for 48 yards in the Rams’ Week 9 loss to the Panthers, adding four catches for an additional 28 yards. Stating the obvious in his Monday press conference, Jeff Fisher admitted Gurley is not getting enough carries. (Case Keenum, by the way, attempted 46 passes in the loss to the Panthers.) Slowed by a bad offensive line, an unimaginative coaching staff and poor quarterback play, Gurley can no longer be viewed as a RB1. Plus, he currently is dealing with a thigh injury that held him out of practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Gurley ranks as our RB19 for Week 10. We recommend following our rankings, so if there are better options available on your bench, it would be wise to bench Gurley given he could be limited. If he can't go, Benny Cunningham would draw the start for the Rams.

LA RB Todd Gurley - Week 9, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Carolina
Todd Gurley rushed 15 times for 57 yards, while also catching six-of-seven targets for 35 yards in the Rams' Week 7 loss to the Giants. Gurley continues to see stacked boxes, because Case Keenum can't take advantage of the one-on-one opportunities in the passing game. The good news for Gurley owners is the volume remains high, but the production has been weak for most of the season. At this point view Gurley as a low-end RB1. He ranks as our RB11 for Week 9.

LA RB Todd Gurley - Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. New York Giants
Todd Gurley rushed 14 times for 58 yards and caught all of his targets for 39 yards in the Rams Week 6 loss to the Lions. He was stuffed on a fourth-and-goal situation right before halftime and Case Keenum vultured a scoring opportunity for Gurley with a one-yard score as well. Gurley owners have every reason to be frustrated with his lack of production but his volume remains high and he remains the Rams' biggest offensive threat. Thus, ride Gurley out and hope big games are coming. He ranks as our RB8 for Week 7 when the Rams travel to London to take on the Giants.
