TEN RB Tony Pollard - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Green Bay Packers

Tony Pollard has taken the lead as the RB1 in what we thought was going to be a committee in Tennessee. He has 41 touches for Tyjae Spears' 16. Pollard now faces a Packers defense that was allowed back-to-back 100-yard rushers to start the season (Saquon Barkley and Jonathan Taylor). We'll see if Pollard makes it three in a row but his usage is good enough to now warrant RB2 use in fantasy.

TEN RB Tony Pollard - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. New York Jets

Tony Pollard played 10 more snaps and had 11 more touches than Tyjae Spears in Week 1. He also had 12 carries to Spears' 4 -- Spears had 4 receptions to Pollard's 3. Pollard ended up having a successful debut with the Titans with 94 totals yards (82 rushing) and a touchdown. He gets the Jets this week, who looked out of sync last week against a 49ers team that didn't have Christian McCaffrey. Pollard will always have a limited ceiling as long as Spears is around, but he has enough to warrant a Flex spot this week.

TEN RB Tony Pollard - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

It's a new era in Tennessee. Derrick Henry is now in Baltimore while Tony Pollard comes over from Dallas. Pollard enters the season fully healthy after recovering from a broken leg in 2023. In 2022, Pollard led the league in yards after contact per attempt and showed plenty of explosiveness. Being healthy again should bring that excitement back for Pollard.

Fantasy Downside

Don't forget about Tyjae Spears, who had 152 touches last season with Derrick Henry still around. That includes 52 receptions, which he took for 385 yards and a touchdown. He's not going away anytime soon. In fact, the Titans have pretty much said this is a 1A/1B-type scenario, capping the fantasy ceilings for both players. Fantasy owners may still be disappointed after Pollard didn't live up to his first-round hype last season after getting the keys to the Dallas offense with Ezekiel Elliott leaving.

2024 Bottom Line

The Titans moved quickly to sign Pollard in free agency, so he'll be very much a part of the game plan. But they're not going to cast Spears aside either. Both backs should be considered flex options at this rate as the Titans perhaps play the hot hand.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Detroit Lions

It was another frustrating fantasy outing for Tony Pollard in Week 16. Pollard managed just 38 yards on 12 attempts and caught a single pass for five yards as Pollard posted 4.8 Half-PPR points, good for RB46 in Fantasy Semi-Final week. Pollard has gone three games since his last touchdown (though how he failed to score on one goal-line play against the Dolphins defied science) and hasn't cracked 100 yards from scrimmage in four straight games.

Pollard is a mid-tier RB2 option in Week 17, with the Detroit Lions ranking 11th in aFPA to running backs coupled with his inefficiency making him a player unlikely to bring home the bacon all by himself.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Miami Dolphins

Tony Pollard, like the rest of the Cowboys offense, will want to forget Week 15 in a hurry. Pollard's 52 rushing yards and five receiving yards helped him to the princely sum of 6.7 Half-PPR points against the Bills, a tally exceeded by 33 other backs last week.

The Dolphins have been stingy towards fantasy running backs this season, ranking ninth in aFPA to the position in 2023. Pollard has a safe weekly workload, just not one that seems likely to lead to fantasy superstardom any time soon. Still, we should probably safely project him for high-end RB2/low-end RB1 production this week.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Buffalo Bills

Tony Pollard put in another Tony Pollard-type performance against the Eagles last week, with 59 rushing yards and another 37 on seven receptions. He was held out of the end zone, which kept his output to 13.1 Half-PPR points, and finished as the RB17. This is exactly where Pollard ranks in average fantasy points per game this season.

The Bills have not exactly been stellar against fantasy running backs this season, ranking 24th in aFPA to the position. But based on his form this season, coupled with the potential ceding of goal line work to Rico Dowdle, high-end RB2 territory might be the safest projection for Pollard this week.

DAL RB Tony Pollard - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Tony Pollard found the end zone again in Week 13, but his 23 total touches only brought 71 yards from scrimmage and 15.8 Half-PPR points. Pollard finished as the RB13 and is RB19 in points per game in 2023.

The Eagles have been tough on running backs this season, ranking first in aFPA to the position. Pollard continues to see plenty of opportunities, however, and in what should be a high-scoring game he should be able to put up mid-tier RB1 numbers.
