Fantasy Upside
With the departure of Samaje Perine, Trayveon Williams moves into the backup role behind Joe Mixon. This should give more opportunities to the fifth-year player whose time on the field on offense has been limited. There is a good chance Williams could exceed his entire career numbers in 2023.
Fantasy Downside
Williams only has 47 career carries in four seasons so there is some question how he will perform. It is not expected for him to get the same kind of workload as Perine did the last two seasons and the Bengals running game in general takes a backseat to the passing game.
2023 Bottom Line
Williams becomes fantasy relevant for the first time in his career although basically as depth. He is a good handcuff for Mixon if you have deep rosters. Otherwise, he is a guy that will help in PPR leagues as Cincinnati uses their backs in the passing game with regularity. Williams is a late-round pick and should be your fourth running back on your roster at best.
