Fantasy Upside
The only QB on the roster who has been with the team for a regular season is Trevor Siemian. As a rookie in ’15, he was No. 3 on the depth chart, but got to learn behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. While Marc Sanchez has the NFL experience, he may have played himself out of the starting role during the preseason, allowing Trevor to earn the spot if he continues to outperform. If Siemian is named the top Broncos signal-caller, he has great WR weapons in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.
Fantasy Downside
Siemian hasn’t thrown a regular season pass and even if he is the regular season starter, look for a conservative, run-first, offense that will limit him from posting big passing stats.
Bottom Line
The competition for the starting QB will be a battle throughout preseason, but it looks like Siemian has taken the lead. Even so, he could be just a bad game or two away from the Broncos turning to the future with Paxton Lynch. Trevor is not worthy of a roster spot, even if he is the starter, but could be a free agent pickup and you’re in need of a QB during the heavy bye weeks.
