Fantasy Upside
Tyler Boyd was a standout at the University of Pittsburgh where he caught 254 passes in three seasons with the Panthers. The second round pick is very good at being a fundamental receiver because he doesn't have blazing speed or size. But he runs very good routes, and more important, will go get the football wherever it is. Boyd will line up in the slot where is a better fit and he should be on the field on a regular basis.
Fantasy Downside
Rookie wide receivers occasionally make a splash entrance in the NFL, but for the most part, it takes a couple of seasons to get acclimated to the league. Boyd could have a long career, but he is going to be given an opportunity to show what he can do now. Problem is if he can't handle it, snaps could diminish.
2016 Bottom Line
Boyd is probably a guy you should get as your fourth receiver on the roster. In general, I don't trust rookie wide receivers. ADP has him being take somewhere around 15th to 18th round, but I think because he is the second best receiver on this team, he can give you some starts and taking him mid-draft is not a bad move.
