Scouting report

NYJ TE Tyler Conklin - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Las Vegas Raiders
Tyler Conklin has had some good games this season including last Monday. He caught six passes for 66 yards and it was the fourth time this season he had at least 50 receiving yards.

Conklin faces the Raiders who are ranked 15th in aFPA to tight ends. He is good depth for your roster, but the Jets offense struggles and that hurts his stock overall. Conklin ranks as a TE2 for Week 10.

NYJ TE Tyler Conklin - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Tyler Conklin had zero catches last week and even though he has had some games where he has been involved in the offense, the numbers haven't be very good. Even with a very good matchup against a pretty bad Chargers defense, keep Conklin on the bench as he ranks as a low-end TE2 for Week 9.

NYJ TE Tyler Conklin - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at New York Giants
You know what you are going to get each week with Tyler Conklin. He has between 4 and 6 targets every week and 3 to 5 receptions. His receiving yardage has varied, but has been acceptable most weeks. Those numbers aren't good enough each week to warrant a fantasy start. Keep Conklin on the bench for Week 8.

NYJ TE Tyler Conklin - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Ty Conklin has been very consistent this season so you know what you are getting each week. He has averaged four receptions over the past four games and that's about what you are going to get.

Conklin faces the Eagles who haven't been great against opposing tight ends, but we have seen where Conklin lands each week and that's not enough to warrant a fantasy start although he does rank as a TE2 for Week 6.

NYJ TE Tyler Conklin - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Denver Broncos
Tyler Conklin has gotten more involved in the Jets offense as he is averaging almost six targets a game over the past three weeks. He had his best production last week which mirrored QB Zach Wilson's best performance of 2023.

Conklin faces the Broncos who are ranked last in aFPA to tight ends. Although the numbers are encouraging and the matchup is favorable, he still only ranks as a TE2 for Week 5 and should stay on the bench.

NYJ TE Tyler Conklin - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Buffalo Bills
Tyler Conklin comes back for his second year as the Jets starting tight end. He had almost identical numbers last season as he did the previous year in Minnesota. Conklin is capable of having a big game, but they are few and far between.

Conklin didn't do too much against Buffalo last season with only 35 combined yards in two games. He won't be playable most weeks and that includes Week 1. He ranks as a low-end TE2 against the Bills and should be either on the bench or the waiver wire.

NYJ TE Tyler Conklin - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Tyler Conklin has had 87 targets in each of the last two seasons including as the starter in New York last year. He has been in the lineup consistently and is a solid NFL tight end. The Jets trust he can get the job done so he should be involved with the passing game at times. And with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, Conklin could be better than expected.

Fantasy Downside
Conklin has never reached the 600-yard receiving mark in a season and his career-high for touchdowns is three. He will be down the list when it comes to Rodgers' options.

2023 Bottom Line
Conklin could surprise some people as he has been a solid backup fantasy tight end the past two seasons, but we are leaning towards him being an afterthought. He is clearly depth and probably not worth a roster spot unless you have deep rosters.
