Scouting report

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Seattle had a really nice day on offense against the Bengals and Tyler Lockett, not surprisingly, was a beneficiary of that. 94 yards on six catches (eight targets). The Seahawks have a chance to do some damage again on offense this week against a down Arizona defense. Lockett's also had a little bit of success in the past against the Cardinals (see his 200-yard day). This feels like a good week to have Lockett in your lineup.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Cincinnati Bengals

Tyler Lockett has been fine this season, but not a major fantasy player thus far, outside of his big day in Week 2. The good news is Lockett still leads the Seahawks in red-zone targets, so he’s not completely forgotten about in this offense. He is behind DK Metcalf in general, but will still see enough work to where you would do worse at your WR3 position.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at New York Giants

The downside from Week 3 is that Tyler Lockett had just 34 yards on three catches. The upside from Week 3 is that he saw 7 targets and also caught a two-point conversion for the Seahawks. This week is a good get-right opportunity for Lockett. The Giants' secondary has been pretty bad thus far, so Lockett should feature well in the passing game this week, making him a fine WR2/Flex option.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Carolina Panthers

Much better and what we expect to see from Tyler Lockett. He had two scores last week including the overtime game-winner. Seattle’s offense looks back on track after a rough Week 1. That’s great news for Lockett. We know he and Geno Smith have a great connection. Carolina’s defense is pretty good, but Lockett has plenty of talent and volume that it’s hard to bench him at this point. Roll with the hot hand.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Detroit Lions

Tyler Lockett had just 10 yards in Week 1, but the whole offense struggled in Week 1. Things should get better for Lockett and we know he usually produces strong results throughout the season. Lockett should be fine and should still be a Flex option this week against the Lions.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Los Angeles Rams

The receiver we love to overlook in fantasy begins his quest for yet another 1,000-yard season, which would be his fifth straight. And it starts against the Rams, who traded away Jalen Ramsey in the offseason. Seattle has a chance to really move the ball on the Rams and quarterback Geno Smith is going to look for Lockett. In Week 13 last season, Lockett caught 9 of his 12 targets for 128 yards and a touchdown. It's almost always a good bet that Lockett will find the end zone. He did so in both meetings with the Rams in 2022.

SEA WR Tyler Lockett - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
When are we going to learn not to underrate Tyler Lockett? Last season, he was a forgotten man in fantasy drafts and he made many fantasy managers pay. He posted his fourth straight 1,000-yard season and found the end zone nine times. He has at least eight touchdowns in each of the last five seasons, the only such player to do so. He's somehow being undervalued again, going as WR33 in Underdog drafts. A wide receiver that has WR2 value being drafted as a low-end WR3? That's pretty good value.

Fantasy Downside
Lockett may not get as many targets this season -- he had 117 last year -- thanks to the addition of first-round rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba and DK Metcalf -- 141 targets in 2022 -- is also still around. At some point, maybe age will start playing a factor for Lockett, now that he is 30 years old. Maybe.

2023 Bottom Line
It continues to be easy to forget about Lockett in fantasy football, but it may be time to finally stop that habit. Lockett is almost a lock (pun intended) for 1,000 yards and a healthy number of touchdowns. He's just as fine of an option as Metcalf despite going three rounds and 18 receivers later.
