MIA WR Tyreek Hill - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Seattle Seahawks

Even with Tua Tagovailoa in last week, things were fairly ugly for the Dolphins passing game. Without Tagovailoa, and with Skyler Thompson, that should remain the case for Tyreek Hill. While I'd trust Hill much more than Jaylen Waddle without Tagovailoa, things aren't looking great for the passing offense in Miami.

Hill is usually in contention for the WR1 on any given week, now he's not even ranked as a WR1 (WR15) on the week. You're still starting Hill as he has a much higher chance to succeed than Waddle, but expectations need to be tempered in Tagovailoa's absence.

MIA WR Tyreek Hill - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Buffalo Bills

In what could have been a terrible situation on Sunday morning, Tyreek Hill was pulled over on his way to the stadium and shoved to the ground while handcuffed by police officers. Hill managed to make it to the game unscathed and finished with 7 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets.

Hill is the clear WR1 overall this week and will be an auto-start even in a difficult matchup against the Bills. In five starts against the Bills since 2021, Hill has yet to top 82 yards or multiple touchdowns. That doesn't change anything, but managing expectations and not expecting a ceiling game is best.

MIA WR Tyreek Hill - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Not much changed for Tyreek Hill this offseason as he is still expected to be one of the top three receivers for fantasy this year. While the additions of WR Malik Washington and TE Jonnu Smith might hurt the secondary pieces behind Hill, they won't impact the main attraction in Miami.

Hill has WR1 overall upside every week and this week against Jacksonville is no different. He projects as WR1 and is an easy start in all formats.

MIA WR Tyreek Hill - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Talk about the ultimate fantasy upside. That's what you get with Tyreek Hill in this Miami offense with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback and Mike McDaniel calling plays. Hill is coming off the board as WR2 and third overall behind only Christian McCaffrey and CeeDee Lamb. Hill finished as the WR2 last season but averaged the most points per game ahead of Lamb. While more steady options were added behind him and Jaylen Waddle in the receiving room, he's still the unquestioned WR1 in one of the more high-octane offenses in the league and has seen over 170 targets in both seasons in South Beach.

Fantasy Downside
The only real downside case you can make for Hill involves injury (not something we can project) or age. Hill is entering his age 30 season, and while receivers tend to decline around year 10, this is only year 9 for Hill. We did see him pick up a few knocks last year so maybe those injuries nag on a little longer at age 30 or maybe Tua Tagovailoa gets injured again? That's about the best one can argue against Hill because the offense and role are immaculate.

2024 Bottom Line
Hill is a strong buy as the WR2 and third overall and there isn't much else to say. The upside case far outweighs the potential negatives for him in 2024.

MIA WR Tyreek Hill - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Baltimore Ravens

Tyreek Hill is seemingly back from his ankle injury as he saw a team-high 14 targets last week. Hill turned those 14 targets into a stat line of 9-99, just missing his ninth 100-yard game of the season. Hill doesn't get a great matchup this week against the Ravens (12th aFPA), but owners should know by now that the Dolphins' WR is matchup proof. Plus, there's a chance Jaylen Waddle (ankle) is inactive, which means Hill could get even a few more targets than he already gets. Hill should be viewed as a must-start option in Week 17.

MIA WR Tyreek Hill - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Tyreek Hill was inactive last week with an ankle injury. If you survived your fantasy playoff game without him, then you'll likely be getting a big boost this week as Hill is expected to return. Assuming Hill is active, he's a must-start option at WR against the Cowboys (8th aFPA). Hill is having one of the best single seasons a WR has ever had in the history of the NFL.

MIA WR Tyreek Hill - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Jets

Tyreek Hill went down early last week with an ankle injury that looked serious at first. But he somehow managed to come back in the game, and caught a few passes after returning, finishing 4-61. However after the game Hill admitted he couldn't cut or change directions like he usually could. He also hasn't been practicing this week, although he's expected to be active. If he does play, he'll face the Jets (1st aFPA) who are a tough matchup on paper. But Hill played the Jets just a few weeks ago and finished 9-102-1 on 12 targets. Hill's health will be worth monitoring in case he suffers a setback, but assuming he's active, he'll be a must-start WR1 in Week 15.
