Eagles Beat: WR Travis Fulgham can be considered part of team's core

Travis Fulgham changed the Eagles offense this year and he’s changed the Eagles’ future plans, too; it’s safe to start talking about him as a core player for 2021. Five games might be a limited sample, but Fulgham appears to be having an out-of-nowhere emergence like Victor Cruz in 2011 and Miles Austin in 2009.

Fantasy Impact:

All the numbers are there for Fulgham. As the story went on to say: he had six catches for 78 yards and a touchdown Sunday. He’s led the Eagles in receiving in all five games he’s played. He’s scored a touchdown in four of them. Since his promotion to the active roster in Week 4, he leads the league in receiving yards (435), ranks seventh in receptions (29) and is one of 10 players with at least four receiving touchdowns.

Victor Cruz had some ups and downs this year as the third option in the Giants’ receiving corps, but ultimately didn’t make a huge fantasy impact as he got buried behind Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Sterling Shepard on the depth chart. Cruz seems past the point of being a top-level fantasy WR following two injury-plagued seasons, but it’s good to see him healthy and with an active role in the passing game. He has a little upside as a deep sleeper this week against the Packers, who have allowed the second most passing yards to opposing teams this season. Expect the Giants to the throw the ball a lot in what could become a shootout. Cruz is very risky, but classifies as a low-end bargain option if you’re in a league where you have to invest heavily in star players.
