Fantasy Upside
Virgil Green scored his lone professional TD in the final regular season contest of ’14. He’s a versatile player who can line up in the backfield and even recorded two rushing attempts last year. Green is a monstrous target at 6’ 5” and 255 pounds.
Fantasy Downside
Virgil is considered more of the blocking TE, with Owen Daniels featured more in the passing game. In four years with the Broncos, he has only 23 grabs for 206 yards.
Bottom Line
The Broncos plan on rushing the ball an even amount of times this season, which means Virgil will be on the field plenty – it’s just that he’ll be blocking more often than running pass routes. HC Gary Kubiak likes to feature the TE position, but don’t expect Green to be the next Broncos TE to burst on the scene like Julius Thomas did in 2013. He may catch a TD or two during the season, but there are plenty of other TEs more worthy of being on your roster.
