Scouting report

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Buffalo
Michael Carter continues to get the touches which means he continues to have great value at the running back position in fantasy. The rookie had 14 touches for 86 yards and that's with his snap count down to 58% last week. He had been hovering in the 70% area.

Carter has a tough matchup this week against Buffalo who is ranked 2nd in aFPA to running backs. This doesn't mean he won't have some fantasy success, but it does push him down the rankings a little bit.

Start Carter as a low-end RB2 for Week 10. He has value in both standard and PPR leagues and the touches will carry him enough to help your team this week.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Indianapolis
If you drafted Michael Carter and were patient, you are reaping the rewards now. Many took him and dropped him after the first month, but has been getting better every week as a fantasy asset. Against the Bengals, he had 24 touches for 172 yards and a touchdown and was a big reason for the Jets' upset of Cincy. He is the No. 1 back and will probably remain so barring injury.

Carter will have a quick turnaround against the Colts on Thursday night which is a tough matchup. Indy is ranked 4th in aFPA to running backs and although we don't expect the same type of numbers as last week, if we get the 20+ touches, he will be valuable for Week 9. Start Carter as a high-end RB2 as he closes in on RB1 status especially in PPR leagues. If it wasn't for the matchup, he probably would already be there.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Cincinnati
Michael Carter had a career-high 19 touches and that was a result of the receiving day he had. He pulled in eight receptions for 67 yards to help him to a solid fantasy day, especially in PPR leagues. His TD streak was stopped at two games but overall, he gave good value to owners that started him.

Carter will face the Bengals who are ranked 17th in aFPA to running backs. The biggest issue for him is the Jets will start Mike White at quarterback. You have to wonder how much the offense will struggle overall.

Carter should still get around 15 touches, but the production could suffer. Start him Week 8 but only as a high-end flex or RB3.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at New England
The rookie running back has had double-digit touches every game since Week 1 and Michael Carter appears to be the Jets' No. 1 back. We think the touches will continue to rise which will in turn raise his fantasy stock. Carter hasn't had any big stats games yet, but he has scored touchdowns in each of the past two contests. This has helped with his fantasy value when played.

Carter faces the Patriots who are ranked 16th in aFPA to running backs, When he faced New England back in Week 2, Carter had his best day - 13 touches for 88 yards.

No doubt he has been moving up fantasy charts. This will still be a tough one but if the touches start reaching 15+, he will move into the RB2 range on a regular basis. Start Carter for Week 7 as a low-end RB2 against the Pats.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Atlanta
Michael Carter had a season and career-high 14 touches and although the yardage production wasn't there yet, he did score his first touchdown of the season. Carter will get more playing time as he played over 50% of the snaps for the first time this season.

Carter has a great matchup against the Falcons who are ranked 27th in aFPA to running backs. We expect Carter to get 15+ touches again and that means his fantasy numbers will be relevant. Start him as an RB3 or flex for Week 5 as he settles in to becoming the Jets featured back.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Tennessee
Michael Carter's numbers are slowly climbing and they should be. After all, the Jets aren't going anywhere so they might as well play the younger players to see what they can do in the NFL. Carter has 23 touches the past two weeks and that number should climb. With touches, the fantasy number will become more relevant.

Jets face the Titans who are ranked 17th in aFPA to running backs. We just expect Carter to get more playing time as the season goes on. He is a borderline RB3 for Week 4, but still might be a week or two away from being in your lineup.

NYJ RB Michael Carter - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Denver
Rookie Michael Carter went from five touches to 13 in his first two weeks as a professional. He ended up with 88 yards from scrimmage and we think that's where the Jets will eventually go with their running game. Carter will be used in the passing game which will eventually give him some value in PPR leagues. For now, he will still split time with Ty Johnson and veteran Tevin Coleman.

It's a decent matchup for Carter against Denver who was ranked 21st in aFPA to running backs last year. We expect Carter to have some impact on the game but the touches might peak at 13 for at least the first half of the season. Keep him on the bench for Week 3 but if he is on the waiver wire, pick him as his fantasy stock is trending upward.
