SEA RB Zach Charbonnet - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers rank 22nd in aFPA to running backs, which makes them a team one would usually target when selecting a weekly starter. But Zach Charbonnet is not in an equal partnership in the Seahawks backfield, and his 9.2 Half-PPR points per game average this season would seem to be the best we can project for him this week. He’s an RB4/Flex option if you need him.

SEA RB Zach Charbonnet - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs Los Angeles Rams

Zach Charbonnet continues to operate well behind Kenneth Walker in the Seahawks backfield, although he did manage the teams only touchdown a week ago which helped him to finish as the RB29, in line with his seasonal rank of RB32 in Half-PPR points per game. The Seahawks face a Rams team that ranks 20th in aFPA to running backs this season but trusting Charbonnet as anything more than a RB3/Flex option seems a risky way to do business.

SEA RB Zach Charbonnet - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Buffalo Bills

Zach Charbonnet really needs the backfield to himself if he is to have any real fantasy impact. He’s the RB32 in Half-PPR points per game this season, and that is down to his workload in game that Kenneth Walker has missed. He has no real stand-alone value at present.

He has a lovely matchup this week, with the Bills ranking 27th in aFPA to running backs. But with Walker in his way, you’ll be lucky to get top 48 production out of Charbonnet in Week 8.

SEA RB Zach Charbonnet - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Detroit Lions

Zach Charbonnet once again dominated the Seahawks' backfield work in the absence of Kenneth Walker. Charbonnet rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns, adding another 16 yards on three receptions, on his way to 24.2 Half PPR points and the overall RB6 spot in Week 3.

Charbonnet managers are likely clinging to his clinging to the dominant role he currently enjoys, as the matchup with the Lions looks like an absolute stinker. The Lions are the toughest matchup for RBs in the league so with the Seahawks likely to lean on the passing game to move the ball in this one, Charbonnet's ceiling is severely capped. He's a volume-driven RB2 this week.

SEA RB Zach Charbonnet - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Miami Dolphins
Kenneth Walker’s injury led to an increased role for Zach Charbonnet, and while he was largely inefficient, he was able to post fantasy-relevant numbers. He rushed 14 times for just 38 yards while finding the end zone, but also caught all five of his targets for another 31 yards. His deeds earned him 15.4 Half PPR points, good enough for RB12 on the week.

We should see more of the same from Charbonnet this week with Walker likely to sit again. The Dolphins have allowed the 11th most rushing yards to running backs this season, while also allowing five receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown to opposing tailbacks. Charbonnet projects to be a high-end RB2 in Week 3.

SEA RB Zach Charbonnet - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Zach Charbonnet wasn't given a whole host of opportunities in his rookie season, but he did make the most of them when they came his way. Charbonnet rushed 108 times for 462 yards and a score, while also catching 33 of his 40 targets for another 209 yards. Only seven running backs ran more routes in 2023.

The new offense in Seattle might be the boost that Charbonnet needs to establish a foothold in the Seahawks backfield. The new OC Ryan Grubb comes from a pass-heavy scheme in Washington, and utilizing the backs as pass catchers would seem to benefit Charbonnet more than Walker. Still, Charbonnet is likely to begin the season behind Walker as the lead back, but even so, he could still make some fantasy noise in 2024, and projects to be an RB3 with the potential to be even more.

SEA RB Zach Charbonnet - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Seattle is back to focusing on Kenneth Walker in the rushing game. Walker had 16 attempts against the Titans while Charbonnet had just two. There’s just not enough here to make Charbonnet worth considering for a starting spot in the championship round. Maybe next year he gets more of a role on offense.
