Scouting report

CIN WR Ja'Marr Chase - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Ja'Marr Chase was expected to be in the lineup last week, but was held back one more week. Unless there is a setback in practice, he should be a go this week. But still keep an eye on actives just in case.

Chase faces the Chiefs who are ranked 23rd in aFPA to wide receivers. He had 266 receiving yards and three touchdowns in the regular season matchup against KC, but was held in check in the playoff game with 54 receiving yards. He did score a touchdown in that game as well.

Start Chase as a low-end WR1 for Week 13. It should definitely be a shootout with two of best quarterbacks in the league. But there is still some doubt how healthy Chase is.

CIN WR Ja'Marr Chase - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Tennessee Titans
Ja'Marr Chase is expected to return Sunday if everything goes well on Friday with him participating in a full practice. He hasn't played since Week 7 (hip injury) and might still not be 100% if he does play.

The Bengals face the Titans who are ranked 31st in aFPA to wide receivers. The Tennessee secondary has not been good this season so the Bengals passing game should thrive.

Check injury reports and actives on Sunday. If Chase is a go, he ranks a low-end WR1 for Week 12. We expect him to get some targets and catches, but he still might be a week or two away from being a top 5 fantasy wide receiver on a weekly basis.

CIN WR Ja'Marr Chase - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Atlanta Falcons
Ja'Marr Chase put up some numbers last week that were more reminiscent of 2021 than this season. He was targeted double digits for the second straight game and caught seven passes for the second straight game. However, last week he put up 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Chase faces the Falcons who are ranked 29th in aFPA to wide receivers. It appears the Bengals offense is starting to get their act together and that will affect Chase in a positive way.

Start Chase as one of the best fantasy receivers for Week 7. With a favorable matchup, he has a chance to be the highest scoring receiver and should give your team a big boost after some disappointing games.

CIN WR Ja'Marr Chase - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at New Orleans Saints
The targets were double digits for the third time in five games last Sunday, but the production was average at best. JaMarr Chase caught seven passes which helped in PPR leagues, but had only 50 receiving yards and zero touchdowns. He has had only one 100+ yard receiving day and only has two touchdowns on the season.

Chase will face the Saints who are ranked 25th in aFPA to wide receivers. He is not where we expected him at this point numbers wise, but it will only be a matter of time.

With the favorable matchup, we like Chase to be a top 5 fantasy receiver for Week 6. Start him in all leagues and formats.

CIN WR Ja'Marr Chase - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Baltimore Ravens
Ja'Marr Chase had a decent game last Sunday with four receptions for 81 yards. That's over 20 yards per catch. However, he was targeted a season-low six times which is concerning for someone who was probably one of the first three wide receivers off the board in fantasy drafts. After a 10-reception game Week 1, he has averaged only five catches per game since then.

Chase will face the Ravens who are ranked 28th in aFPA to wide receivers. The numbers say the Bengals should have a huge passing game with this favorable matchup. But one has to wonder if Tee Higgins has taken over the No. 1 target for QB Joe Burrow.

Start Chase for Week 5 and expect some big numbers against Baltimore as he ranks a solid WR1. But keep an eye on those targets and see if he can keep them at 10+ moving forward.

CIN WR Ja'Marr Chase - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Miami Dolphins
No need to panic yet with Ja'Marr Chase. The targets have been around 10 for each game and he did score a touchdown two of the first three games. The combined 83 yards the past two games has been disappointing, but it happens with the best wide receivers. Expect plenty of big games from him this season.

Chase will face the Dolphins who are ranked 4th in aFPA to wide receivers. The Miami defense was especially impressive against Buffalo last Sunday, but that game was at home and Cincinnati will have the home field this week.

Start Chase as a solid WR1 for Week 4. It seems the Bengals got a better overall performance last week and this bodes well for them to get back on track which will include Chase getting his 10 targets with better fantasy results.

CIN WR Ja'Marr Chase - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at New York Jets
Dallas did a good job last week holding Ja'Marr Chase to five receptions for 54 after he dominated Week 1. This won't happen often so expect the Bengals to make an effort to get more production from him this Sunday.

The Bengals face the Jets who are ranked 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers. However, last season New York held Chase in check with only three receptions for 29 yards, although he did score a touchdown.

Chase is due for a bounce back game so start him as a top-5 fantasy wide receiver. The Cincinnati offense will find its groove sooner or later and there is a good chance it is against the Jets below-average defense.
