Scouting report

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Denver Broncos
Though Tee Higgins is technically listed as Questionable this week, reports point toward him playing, which has a direct negative impact on Mike Gesicki. The Broncos also rank 3rd in TE aFPA, which isn't helping matters. Keep Gesicki off TE streaming radars in all but the deepest, TE Premium leagues.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cleveland Browns
This week, Mike Gesicki will take on a Browns defense that has been far more susceptible to the position than the first time these teams met back in Week 7. In fact, since Cleveland’s Week 11 bye, they have allowed the most completions (35), the sixth-most yards (339), and the eighth-highest EPA/play (0.37) to tight ends. The veteran TE has a decent enough mix of floor and ceiling to make a viable Week 16 play as a streaming option.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 @ Dallas Cowboys
The splits with and without Tee Higgins have been repeated ad nauseam for one Mike Gesicki, so we’re not going to dig into them once again, but the tight end overcame the odds in Week 13 to deliver a more than feasible 5-53-0 line on five targets. Those kinds of things can happen when your quarterback drops back nearly 50 times every single game. There’s also the correlation of rookie Erick All hitting the IR before the team’s Week 12 bye, which left the team with Tanner Hudson and blocking-specialist Drew Sample out there to run routes.

Gesicki is on the streaming radar once again in Week 14.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 @ Los Angeles Chargers
Tee Higgins is back in the lineup, so we should lower our expectations of Mike Gesicki as a streaming commodity. With Higgins on the field to this point, Gesicki has averaged 1.8 targets for 1.6 catches, 14.2 yards, and 2.2 fantasy points per game. There are better options this week.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 @ Baltimore Ravens
With Tee Higgins on the field, Mike Gesicki's numbers drop to 1.8 targets, 1.6 catches, 14.2 yards, and 2.2 fantasy points per game. But with Higgins missing more time ahead of a must-win matchup for the Bengals, the tight end is firmly planted in the TE streaming streets as a top-10 option in Week 10.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Scoring 8.8 half-PPR points at the tight end position is nothing to sneeze at, but we’ve seen that Mike Gesicki’s usable fantasy weeks are very heavily correlated to Tee Higgins’ availability, so his viability gets a huge bump with his teammate out. In three games in which Higgins has been sidelined, Gesicki averages seven targets, 5.6 receptions, 60.7 receiving yards, and 8.2 fantasy points. With Higgins on the field, those numbers drop to 1.8 targets, 1.6 catches, 14.2 yards, and 2.2 fantasy points.

He's a good streamer for those in need for Week 9.

CIN TE Mike Gesicki - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 @ Cleveland Browns
With Tee Higgins missing the first two weeks of the season, Mike Gesicki's role was surprisingly useful, including a 7-91-0 stat line in Week 2. Even with Higgins returning, there was a chance we would see more out of Gesicki, but the team is using Erick All and Drew Sample (and Tanner Hudson in Week 1) along with him, which should cause some pause. Gesicki can be ignored for fantasy purposes in Week 7 against a Browns defense that ranks fifth in TE aFPA.
