Scouting report

KC TE Noah Gray - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Noah Gray is too touchdown-dependant to truly be relied upon for championship week and with the return of Hollywood Brown, Gray's targets will likely take a hit. He saw just one last week against the Texans.

KC TE Noah Gray - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16vs. Houston Texans

Owners who rolled the dice on Noah Gray in Week 15 were given a touchdown, though Gray only finished with 21 yards on two catches. He did see five targets for the third straight game. Houston does rank 22nd in fantasy against tight ends but Gray will need volume to be fantasy-relevant. He's touchdown-dependent and that may be a little too risky for the playoffs. He's worth a look in deeper flex leagues or multi-TE leagues,

KC TE Noah Gray - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Cleveland Browns

The Chiefs have room for an extra fantasy tight end. Noah Gray has played his way into TE2 territory thanks to four straight games with four catches. He's seen about five targets in each of those games as the Chiefs continue to steadily run 12 personnel packages. He gets the Browns this week, who rank 25th in fantasy points allowed to tight ends. If you're in a deeper league with extra flexes, you may consider Gray, but you're likely banking on him catching a touchdown to boost his value.

KC TE Noah Gray - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Detroit Lions

Travis Kelce hyperextended his knee and his status for the Chiefs' season opener is in doubt. If he's unable to go then Noah Gray and potentially Jody Fortson would take over tight end duties. Gray was utilized a little bit last season as he finished with 28 catches for 299 yards, which isn't bad considering he's playing behind the best tight end in the NFL. He also gets a favorable matchup in Week 1 as the Lions gave up the 9th-most average fantasy points to tight ends a year ago. But Gray is certainly no Kelce, and we shouldn't expect those type of numbers from him. He should be viewed in the TE15-TE20 range assuming Kelce is inactive.

KC TE Noah Gray - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Noah Gray is currently the Chiefs' only active tight end. Starter Travis Kelce and backup Blake Bell were both placed on the team's COVID/Reserve list heading into Week 16. Gray has played sparingly throughout the year, but has just four receptions on the season. Gray is intriguing just because of the success Kelce has in this offense, but it's pretty tough to trust the rookie in your fantasy playoffs. Not only does he have limited experience, but he also faces a Steelers defense that's given up the second-fewest average fantasy points to tight ends this year. Gray is outside of our top 15 tight ends for the week.
