PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

In a trailing game script, we saw more Jaylen Warren than Najee Harris against Baltimore. The one thing you had been counting on with Harris was that he would have the dominant side of the split, but as we've seen all season Warren continues to be more efficient and also saw more work than Harris. It's a bit of a worrying sign for Harris.

The Chiefs are 1st aFPA against running backs this season, so a touchdown-or-bust Harris becomes even more of a risk in your lineups this week. He's an RB3/flex type play this week with a low floor and limited ceiling. Given the option, I'd rather have Warren this week than Harris. Harris profiles better in standard leagues versus PPR and would likely look elsewhere in PPR.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Baltimore Ravens

When the offense only runs 41 offensive plays and you trail big time, it's not a game script that bodes well for Najee Harris. He had 6 carries for 14 yards and 1 reception for 7 yards in a forgettable performance against the Eagles.

Things don't get much easier for Harris and the rushing game against a Ravens defense that is a pass funnel and rank 10th aFPA against running backs. Harris is an RB3 this week and in flex consideration, but the floor is super low in a possible repeat performance of last week. Like every week, you'll need a touchdown to pay off playing Harris, at least.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Philadelphia Eagles

As had been the case for most of the season, Najee Harris had the majority share of work on the ground but was largely inefficient and ceded the pass-game work to Jaylen Warren. Harris didn't register a target due to the low pass volume from Wilson, who only attempted 26 passes.

The Eagles are stout against the pass and just as stout against the run as they are 5th aFPA against running backs. This is a matchup to avoid through the air, but Harris' volume on the ground always keeps him in consideration. As always, if he scores a touchdown he'll be an RB2 on the week and if he doesn't you'll regret having him in your lineup.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Cleveland Browns

After weeks of seeing closer to a 50-50 split between Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, Harris had a dominant performance for work. His efficiency still wasn't great, but he had 16 carries and 6 targets last week. It was a weird week where Cordarrelle Patterson got in before Jaylen Warren, so I doubt that continues.

The Browns are 7th aFPA against running backs, so this should be tough sledding against the Browns in terms of efficiency, but the name of the game with Harris continues to be volume and touchdowns. If he gets one, he's usable. If he gets both, he's an RB2.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Cincinnati Bengals

It's starting to get hard to roster Najee Harris and have any confidence after another game where Jaylen Warren outproduced him. Neither back could get loose against the Browns, but Harris averaged 2.6 yards per carry versus Warren's 4.1. Harris remains a touchdown-or-bust bet on volume.

It certainly won't help that the Bengals are 7th aFPA against running backs this season. The rub on Harris, as it is every week, if he scores a touchdown he'll likely return an RB2 score. If he doesn't, you'll question why you started him. He's more of a flex option this week, so we'll see how the touchdown variance rolls this week.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cleveland Browns

Look, no matter how inefficient Najee Harris is, he's just never going to give up the lead-back role in Pittsburgh. Jaylen Warren can be more efficient on the ground, through the air, it doesn't matter. I've had to give up on wishcasting a larger role for Warren, and accept the inefficiency of Harris.

With the weather potentially dicey tomorrow, Pittsburgh could easily go with a more run-heavy approach than last week. Granted, Cleveland is 6th aFPA against running backs so the sledding doesn't get much easier this week. That said, like most weeks with Harris, if he gets a touchdown and a couple of targets, he's probably solid enough, but if he doesn't you could be starting at 19 carries for 54 yards and a catch or two. He's a RB2 this week because of the byes.

PIT RB Najee Harris - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Until last week, Washington had been getting gashed on the ground. A stoppable force met a moveable object and it turns out Najee Harris couldn't take advantage. Harris finished with 21 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. It was a wildly inefficient Sunday for Harris and it was made worse by Jaylen Warren seeing a season-high in touches with 14 carries and 2 receptions and massively outperformed Harrisyardage-wise.

The Ravens are a pass funnel defense and it shows as they are 11th against running backs this season. It's a tough matchup and we've seen Jaylen Warren outperform him (again). You're hoping he gets a few touchdowns on the ground because the efficiency is not going to be there against the Ravens. He's an RB2 by our rankings, but I would not envy those clicking him in a lineup. You're likely starting him due to a lack of better options though.
