2022 Fantasy Upside
The Steelers got exactly what they were looking for when they drafted Najee Harris in the first round. Although there were some critics, you can't argue with the production from his rookie season. He rushed for 1,200 yards and added 74 receptions for 467 yards. His touches were second in the NFL. All of this happened with a below-average offensive line and an aging quarterback. Pittsburgh wants to run the ball and we expect that will be the strategy this season. Harris is big, but still has good speed which makes a him a tough matchup in both phases of the offense.
2022 Fantasy Downside
Although Harris produced, there were many that thought the Steelers overused him and think that could catch up the running back. There are also concerns that the offensive line won't improve and the new quarterback, whoever it might be, will struggle.
2022 Bottom Line
The Steelers probably recognized they used Harris too much in 2021 so expect them to scale back his carries. We also don't think he will be used as much in the passing game. With that said, a fresher Harris could reach his numbers from last season without as many touches if the line does improve and the quarterback is serviceable. No doubt he is a top-5 fantasy running back and should go in the first round of your draft.
