Scouting report

NE RB JaMycal Hasty - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Pittsburgh Steelers

JaMycal Hasty could move into the No. 2 running back role this week. It will be his first piece of action this season and he’ll be behind Ezekiel Elliott so we probably shouldn’t expect anything much from Hasty. In a week with only two teams on a bye, there’s no need to have Hasty in your lineup.

JAX RB JaMycal Hasty - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Houston Texans

JaMycal Hasty rushed three times for 10 yards against the Jets last week, while also reeling in one of his three targets for 11 yards. His 2.6 Half-PPR points were good for RB58 on the week.

The Jags and Hasty have one of the best running back matchups in the entire league this week. The Texans rank 29th in aFPA to running backs, allowing a league-high 2,104 rushing yards to tailbacks this season. If the game does get out of hand early, then it is possible that Travis Etienne cedes some work to Hasty, but not enough to make him a viable fantasy option. And certainly not in Fantasy Championship week.

JAX RB JaMycal Hasty - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at New York Jets

Week 15 was another quiet day for JaMycal Hasty. He had one rush attempt for 12 yards and caught his sole target for another two. His 2.0 Half PPR points probably didn't help too many fantasy managers.

Hasty has two barriers to fantasy success in Week 16. One is his running mate Travis Etienne, and the other is a formidable Jets defense. The Jets rank sixth in aFPA to running backs this season and have given up the tenth fewest rushing yards to tailbacks. Hasty is well off the fantasy radar.

JAX RB JaMycal Hasty - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Dallas Cowboys

JaMycal Hasty saw four carries against the stout Titans run defense last week and picked up 13 scoreless yards. These deeds did pretty much nothing for any fantasy managers to get excited about.

Even with Travis Etienne struggling, there is little appeal in playing Hasty in fantasy this week. The Cowboys rank seventh in aFPA to running backs this season and have only allowed six rushing scores all season to tailbacks. Hasty is best left on your bench, but more likely your waiver wire.

JAX RB JaMycal Hasty - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Tennessee Titans

JaMycal Hasty played just three snaps against the Lions and didn't receive a single touch on offense. This coming the week after his most productive game of the season was something of a surprise, but a clear indicator that this is Travis Etienne's backfield.

The Jaguars take on the Titans in Week 14. The Titans have allowed the second-fewest rushing yards to running backs all season, and rank fifth in aFPA to the position. If we need an Etienne injury to get Hasty on the field, that's a bet fantasy managers should not be making. You don't need to start Hasty in anything but the deepest of deep leagues. And even then only if you have no other choice.

JAX RB JaMycal Hasty - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Detroit Lions

It was quite a day for JaMycal Hasty against the Ravens in Week 12. Filling in for an injured Travis Etienne, Hasty carried the ball 12 times for 28 yards. But he caught all five of his targets for 67 yards and a touchdown that truly delighted Jackson DeVille. Hasty earned 18.0 Half PPR points and finished as the RB7 in Week 13.

Hasty's form as a pass catcher could see him earn a bigger role in Week 13, even with Etienne back in the lineup. But he could have asked for a friendlier matchup. The Lions are eighth in aFPA to running backs this season, with only the Giants allowing fewer receptions and the Buccaneers giving up more receiving yards to the position. He's an RB4 option at best this week.

JAX RB JaMycal Hasty - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Baltimore Ravens

JaMycal Hasty continues to see few opportunities for the Jaguars and continues to do the bare minimum with them. He had one rush attempt for four yards and one reception for -1 yards against the Chiefs in Week 10. He is a long way behind Travis Etienne in the pecking order in the Jaguars backfield.

We shouldn't expect too much, if anything, from Hasty this week. The Ravens rank fifth in aFPA to running backs this season while giving up the fourth fewest rushing yards to the position. You don't need to start Hasty, and you probably shouldn't even have him rostered.
