Scouting report

SF QB Colin Kaepernick - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Seattle
Kaepernick played well last week against the Rams, posting 266 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while also running for 15 yards and a score. But does anyone trust him to do it again in Seattle? Nope. There are much better quarterback options available this week than going with a QB whose team was limited to 119 passing yards in their first meeting, even though Kapernick didn't start that game.

SF QB Colin Kaepernick - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Los Angeles
Considering Kaepernick had just 183 yards and two scores in a shootout against Atlanta's porous pass defense, expecting him to do much against the Rams would be a stretch. The Rams have had four games in which they have held opposing passers under 200 yards, compared to three games above 300 yards. While they have allowed five games with three or more TD passes, they came against far better passing games than San Francisco. In fact, back in Week 1, Blaine Gabbert had just 170 passing yards and a score against the Rams in the 49ers' lone win this season. There are better options available than Kap.

SF QB Colin Kaepernick - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Atlanta
Kaepernick rebounded from his benching with a 133-yard, 1-touchdown effort against the Jets. He also rushed for 23 yards but there's just nothing here that says, 'Man, I need to start Kaepernick today.' Until you look at the matchup with the Falcons. The Falcons give up passing yards so easily, the Rams got 235 against them last week. The one thing that might lead to some caution with Kap is that the Falcons have allowed just three TD passes in their past four games. I would recommend staying away from this one despite the matchup.

SF QB Colin Kaepernick - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Jets
All that momentum Kaepernick had been building went out the window last week as he was benched early and threw for just four yards while rushing six times for 20 yards. Nothing solves a passing games' woes quite like the Jets, however, who looked like they quit last week against Indianapolis. Then again, so did the 49ers. The only thing keeping the Jets from being the worst pass defense in the NFL has been playing some putrid passing games. The 49ers might qualify as one of those. Given that he got the hook last week, I can't recommend starting Kap this week.

SF QB Colin Kaepernick - Week 13, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Chicago
Kaepernick threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns while also running 10 times for a season-high 113 yards last week. He's been a solid fantasy play over the past month and should be a nice sleeper start this week at Chicago. Kap is playing at a high level, and the Bears have given up 13 TD passes over the past seven games. Kaepernick's scrambling ability also will cause them some issues. He's a better start than most this week.

SF QB Colin Kaepernick - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Miami
Kaepernick had more than 200 yards passing for the third consecutive game, which isn't a lot for most quarterbacks, but given his running (4-32) and the two touchdown passes he added, it was a productive day. He now has seven TD passes and one rushing in his five starts, which makes him a viable QB start in some weeks. Miami has given up just six TD passes and hasn't given up more than 221 yards in five home games, so this is a difficult matchup. There are some easier matchups available out there in which to find a starter.

SF QB Colin Kaepernick - Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. New England
Kaepernick threw for 210 yards and a touchdown last week, adding 10 rushing attempts for 55 yards and a score. That added up to a semi-productive day, but you can bet that the Patriots will come up with a plan to keep him in the pocket. And that's where he's at his worst. The Patriots allowed 348 passing yards and three scores to a mobile QB last week in Russell Wilson, but Kaepernick is no Wilson. He'll have some success in this game because he'll have to throw, but there are better QB options available.
