Week 17 at Philadelphia Eagles

With Terry McLaurin inactive, Steven Sims had his most productive game of the season since Week 2 as he finished 4-52 on six targets. It's hard to trust Sims considering he finished below 20 receiving yards in his five games previous to this one. If McLaurin is inactive again, Sims will be more productive than usual, but he'd be a risky play in Week 17, even with a favorable matchup against the Eagles (No. 31 aFPA).

Week 12 at Cowboys

Steven Sims finished 3-13-1 last week as he caught his first touchdown of the season. Sims was a pre-season favorite by some, but his role has fallen off since his injury. Sims started the season by playing 83% and 91% of the offensive snaps in the first two games. However, since returning in Week 9, Sims is averaging 35.6% of the offensive snaps (in three games). He's not a strong play in Week 12 despite a favorable matchup against the Cowboys.

Week 4 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Steven Sims had a promising finish to 2019, and started 2020 with two 50-yard games, but didn't even see a target in Week 3 as he played a season-low 36% of the offensive snaps. It's not clear why Sims wasn't involved as much. He dealt with an injury during the week, but was active and still on return duty for Washington. Sims is probably safe to avoid this week against Baltimore.

Week 3 at Cleveland Browns

Steven Sims has been consistent so far in 2020, finishing 3-50 in Week 1 and 3-53 in Week 2. We're projecting that same stat line for him in Week 3 as he draws a decent matchup against the Browns. It's worth noting Sims was absent from practice on Wednesday with a toe injury, but returned in limited form on Thursday.

Steven Sims didn't wow anyone with his numbers in Week 1, but his 3-50 outing proved he's worth rostering in deeper redraft leagues this year. We'd like to see more than three targets for Sims moving forward, though. He should be viewed as a WR4 play in Week 2 as he faces the Cardinals.

Week 1 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Steven Sims' overall 2019 numbers won't wow you, but he came on really strong at the end of the year. Sims averaged 5.3-63.3-1.3 in his last three games as he was featured more in the offense as a result of injuries at receiver. He'll enter the year as the No. 2 wideout following the injury to Paul Richardson and release of Trey Quinn. He'll be somewhat of a risky play in Week 1 as we project him as a WR4, but he's a player who offers potential. If your league offers return points, it's worth noting Sims is listed as the team's kick and punt returner. He finished second in the league in kick return yards (819) last season.

Week 17 at Dallas Cowboys

Steven Sims has emerged as a viable fantasy option in recent weeks. He exploded last week, finishing 6-62-2 on a team-high 10 targets. He's now led Washington in targets for two straight games. He's scored five touchdowns on the season, including three in the last two weeks. He gets a decent matchup this week against the Cowboys where he could be viewed as a sneaky WR3 play. He should be viewed more as a WR4 though, as he still carries some risk. But if Terry McLaurin is unable to play with his concussion, Sims becomes a better option.
