Texans WR Stefon Diggs (knee) not expected to play Week 9

The Houston Texans offense was already shorthanded at wide receiver with Nico Collins on injured reserve, and now it seems like they'll be down another key outlet for C.J. Stroud. Wideout Stefon Diggs suffered a non-contact knee injury during Sunday's Week 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts and is not expected to play when the team travels to New York to play the Jets, according to NFL Media.

Fantasy Impact:

This is a tight turnaround for Diggs as the Texans open up Week 9 on Thursday night, which makes a possible return to the field difficult, even if the injury isn't as serious as it looked on the field, the story said. The team did not practice Monday, but the initial injury report of the week -- albeit a projection -- notes that Diggs would've been a nonparticipant, the story went on to say. With no Collins and Diggs, Dell looks like he could be the top WR target against the Jets. Schultz and Mixon could also get more involved in the passing game.

HOU QB C.J. Stroud - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Baltimore Ravens

C.J. Stroud came back from an opening drive interception to secure a solid fantasy day with 244 yards and two touchdowns. But as we saw, he was overcome with emotion following the injury to Tank Dell and that was tough for him to play through. He now has to play on a short week following that injury against a Ravens team that has been a favorable matchup for quarterbacks this season. But will Stroud be able to get production from a wide receiver not named Nico Collins? That's the big question. Even in a pretty good matchup, Stroud is a QB2 for championship week.
