MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Buffalo Bills

We were certainly hoping for a little better in Tua Tagovailoa's return, but Jaylen Waddle took a back seat to Tyreek Hill and De'Von Achane in the pecking order in Tagovailoa's return. Waddle continues to have a massive ceiling, but he's more boom or bust than people hoped during the draft season.

Waddle has performed better against the Bills than Hill, but the ceiling is still a bit limited as the Bills are 5th aFPA against receivers this season. He's a high-end WR3 this week, but the ceiling is lower this week. He's worth starting, but limiting expectations is the name of the game this week.

MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Arizona Cardinals

The loss of Tua Tagovailoa tanked the Dolphins offense, but no one was hit harder than Jaylen Waddle. He was barely usable during Tagovailoa's absence, but that's in the past now and Waddle will be back in your starting lineup this week.

The Cardinals rank 19th aFPA against wide receivers and the easy matchup and return of Tagovailoa make this a great week to hop back on the Waddle bandwagon. He's WR18 on the week making him a mid-end WR2 with some upside a few receivers ahead of don't have this week. Start him confidently.

MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Indianapolis Colts

Unfortunately for Jaylen Waddle, the quarterback situation has been impacting him more than Tyreek Hill. In the win over the Patriots, Waddle had 8 targets, but only 4 catches for 46 scoreless yards. He continues to be the clear second option behind Tyreek Hill, but will need better quarterback play to get going again.

Waddle is a borderline WR3 this week but is more of a flex play. Again, the matchup is great against the Colts as they rank 24th aFPA against wide receivers. However, it's just tough to trust Waddle with this quarterback situation and the running game back at full strength.

MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at New England Patriots

Jaylen Waddle is outside of the top 50 wide receivers this week and it is officially time to move him to the bench if you had not done so already.

MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Tennessee Titans

Like the rest of the Dolphins offense, Jaylen Waddle struggled without a real quarterback under center. Waddle caught 4 of 5 targets for 26 yards. That's just not going to get it done for you. Unfortunately, it's going to be very tough to trust Waddle, even with Snoop Huntley, as he's always going to be behind Tyreek Hill in the pecking order for targets and potentially De'Von Achane as well.

Add in a difficult matchup for the Dolphins passing game as the Titans rank 2nd aFPA against wide receivers, and this is not a great spot for Waddle. Waddle is a WR3/flex play, but until we see something consistent from the backup quarterbacks or Tua Tagovailoa returns, it seems very tough to trust anyone that isn't Achane or Hill.

MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Seattle Seahawks

Early on against Buffalo, it looked like Jaylen Waddle could have been on his way to a pretty big week, but then interceptions and injury struck Tua Tagovailoa and the offense fell apart.

You're likely still starting Waddle unless you drafted five straight wide receivers to start, but Waddle is a borderline flex play this week. He's a back-end WR3 but with a greatly reduced ceiling versus what he normally has. I'd be cautious without Tagovailoa and, at least against this Seattle secondary, I would be considering other options if I was lucky enough to have any.

MIA WR Jaylen Waddle - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Buffalo Bills

Jaylen Waddle continued to be Robin to Tyreek Hill's Batman to open the 2024 season. While we shouldn't expect that to change any time soon, Waddle did manage to top 100 yards on 5 catches providing some value even if it wasn't a ceiling outcome.

Waddle remains a high-end WR2, especially with Raheem Mostert out and De'Von Achane a game-time decision. Waddle would likely be the biggest beneficiary of Achane being out after he had 7 receptions for 76 yards in the opener and Waddle could see more of those short-area targets.
