DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Browns

Javonte Williams takes on a Cleveland Browns defense that currently touts a top six run defense in points allowed to opposing RBs this fantasy season. According to our adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) tool, the Browns currently allow only about 15 fantasy points per game. With the current landscape of bye weeks, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better option than Williams this week as a floor-based play. Last week Williams only played on 47% of the snaps which was another week where Melvin Gordon led the Denver Broncos in RB snap share.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Raiders

Good News: Javonte Williams saw his snap share increase for three straight weeks.
Bad News: Javonte Williams saw a 9% decrease in his snap share in Week 5.

We should be chasing Williams upside, but one thing is clear, Melvin Gordon has turned out to be a bigger thorn in Williams workload than we were hoping. This week he takes on a Las Vegas Raiders team that is bleeding fantasy points on the ground. Just a week ago, both Khalil Herbert and Damien Williams of the Chicago Bears were top 24 options.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Steelers

Javonte Williams has been a shining star since he entered the league, unfortunately, he's not getting the touches for us to actually use him in fantasy lineups. This week the Denver Broncos take on a Pittsburgh Steelers team that has been formidable against the run, and Williams won't have many holes to take advantage of. The Steelers according to Football Outsiders has a top seven rushing defense on the year. It's better to look elsewhere this week.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Ravens

Javonte Williams seems to have cooled off in forcing the Denver Broncos coaching staff to give Williams and Melvin Gordon a near split when it comes to rushing attempts, but the good news is, that Williams has been trending as the pass-catching back, instead of just getting the majority of carries. Last week, Williams (4) saw double the targets Gordon (2) saw. If this game gets out of hand, it could be Willams who gets to benefit if we chase the targets.

Week 3 vs. Jets

Javonte Williams might not have flashy numbers, but beneath the hood, he's on the verge of a breakout and it could come this week against the New York Jets. On the season, Williams has only played 13 fewer snaps (61) than Melvin Gordon, has three more rush attempts (27) while having equal touches (29) in the past two weeks. The New York Jets come into this contest according to PFF as the 27th ranked rush defense.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Jaguars

Good News:

Javonte Williams in his first NFL game saw a 50% snap share while also registering a higher rush attempt share (56%). Williams will only progressively see more carries as the season goes on, and this could be a good game to chase Williams since it'll be a slow-paced game.

Bad News:

Javonte Williams only saw one target but it might not matter this week with the Jaguars being +6.5 point underdogs.

DEN RB Javonte Williams - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Giants
Javonte Williams is looking like a great play this week and if he ends up getting the majority of the Denver Broncos backfield touches, we could be looking at a ceiling play in his first-ever NFL action. This game currently has the lowest total in Vegas (42.5), and according to Sharp Football Stats, only five teams had a higher run rate in neutral game script than the Denver Broncos (51%) in 2020. Also, according to PFF, the Denver Broncos offensive line created the eighth-most yards (1.53) before contact in 2020. Williams is set up to see a lot of action in a slow-paced game that favors the Denver Broncos by two points.
