DraftKings Week 1 Cash Game Breakdown
I’ll be taking over the DraftKings top plays article this year, as Jon Bales has moved on to greener pastures at GrubHub. Not really, as Bales is still on board with us, providing a weekly DFS theory column for our new DFS subscription plan. I've learned a ton from Jon over the years, especially about how to be a profitable player on DraftKings. My Kindle app is littered with his excellent DFS book series Fantasy Football for Smart People, and not just because I'm smart, but because the books are chock full of actionable DFS info. (Thought you were going to get away without a Bales book plug just because he's not writing this article anymore? Ha!)

In cash games, I'm building lineups from a much smaller player pool, which this article will reflect. Although in Week 1, the early pricing has afforded a lot of flexibility in terms of how cash game lineups can be constructed, so I ended up highlighting a larger pool of players than I suspect I will one the season gets rolling and prices adjust. In any case, I'll be focusing on high-floor, cash game plays only here. If I only like one player at a position that requires only one, I won't blurb a second player just to do it -- only the best here. For you. I'm so kind? I know, I try. But anyway, my point is that if you want analysis from me on a wider array of players, and GPP "shots in the dark", check out the GPP breakdown, which will come out every Friday. But enough with this long intro, let's get into the Week 1 plays.
QB Sam Bradford $6,900 @ ATL
In my preseason research, I found that quarterbacks under $7,000 provided a greater return on investment than quarterbacks $7,000 and above in cash games. With the Eagles (-3, 55 O/U) expected to score 29 points on the road, Bradford is the preferred option at QB. As I wrote in my FanDuel breakdown, Bradford stands to gain from entering into Chip Kelly’s offense: Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez combined to increase their touchdown rate by 62 percent, their yards per attempt by 23 percent, and their completion percentage by 13 percent under Chip.
