Streaming Tight Ends: Week 10 Targets
We’ve reached double digits in the fantasy season, Week 10. Now’s the perfect time to evaluate your roster choices and gauge if the tight end you drafted is worthy of starting or if you need to hit the waiver wire in search of a better option. If you purposely approached drafting the tight end position with the intention of streaming weekly, I’ve got you covered there, too. As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to TE1 production for your fantasy squad.
For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.
4for4 rankings also come into play here and should always be considered when making league-specific roster decisions.
The goal is to roster a player who will return TE1 fantasy points, and Week 9 we had some highs and a few lows. Jeff Heuerman was my star as TE2 with 24.3 PPR points, followed by several guys in the TE12-16 range. Our optimal TE streamer has 133.9 PPR fantasy points—good enough for TE3 on the season thus far. On to Week 10, and the players who can fill in on a bye week, bail you out of a bad draft choice or simply provide the weekly streaming points you crave.
In order to provide advice that you can actually implement, candidates for tight end streaming consideration must be owned in no more than 40 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
Top Streaming Picks
Jack Doyle, (Colts) vs. Jaguars
Doyle is right at the streaming cutoff (38 percent rostered), but at least for this week, he’s still an option. After sitting out five weeks with a hip issue, Andrew Luck’s trusty TE returned in Week 8 to post 19 PPR points via six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown. With another week of rest due to Indy’s bye, Doyle should be ready to put up some TE1 numbers both on Sunday and down the fantasy season stretch.
This week he gets the Jaguars at home, a team that has been stingy to TEs, ranking sixth in aFPA to the position, but also allowed both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert to post double-digit PPR points the last time they took the field in Week 8. Doyle was fifth in overall targets among TEs in 2017, and is as consistent as they come. Don’t let the matchup scare you—grab him, use him this week, and hang on to the Colts’ TE for the rest of the season if possible.
