Streaming Tight Ends: Week 9 Targets
After a rough beginning to the season, the tight end position has made a mild turn around, with some new faces emerging as usable for fantasy purposes. Sadly, this week we’ll be without Austin Hooper, Gerald Everett, Tyler Eifert and whichever Saints tight end would have been the starter in Week 9.
As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to TE1 production for your fantasy squad.
For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

Week 8 was a profitable one for the stream as my top two recommendations, Jonnu Smith and Darren Fells, checked in with 19.8 and 23.8 PPR points, respectively, finishing as the fantasy TE2 and TE3. I’ll even take a small victory lap as Ryan Griffin was TE1 on the week and I did suggest Chris Herndon, who did not play in favor of Griffin. Our goal in all this is starting tight end results and after eight weeks, 4for4’s optimal streamer has scored 122.5 PPR points, which equates to TE4 numbers on the season.

Top Streaming Picks
Darren Fells (Texans) @ Jaguars
After being passed around the league a bit, it seems Fells may have finally found a home in Texas. Houston hasn’t really been a TE-friendly spot in recent years, but there is something happening between Deshaun Watson and Fells that’s hard to ignore. The 33-year-old Fells has found the end zone four times in his past four games and has the third-most targets on the Texans in that time frame.
The matchup for Fells isn’t spectacular in Week 9, but the Jags did just give up a league-high 24.6 PPR points to Ryan Griffin last week. Fells is still only rostered by 18% of Yahoo! players, so grab him and plug him in before the Texans' Week 10 bye.
