Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Watch Week 4: Khalil Herbert Bursts Onto the Scene
As a refresher, The Drop List consists of players who are rostered in at least 50% of Yahoo leagues and are no longer must-have assets, recommended additions are available in over 50% of Yahoo leagues, the Watch List contains in-depth notes on fringe waiver adds, and Deep Cuts includes player notes on those rostered in 5% or fewer of Yahoo and FFPC leagues.
The Drop List
- QB: Justin Fields
- RB: Elijah Mitchell, Ken Walker
- WR: Darnell Mooney
- TE: -
Justin Fields and the Bears have pathetically averaged 51.6 plays through three games, attempting 17, 11, and 17 passes to begin the season. Even in averaging nine carries in that stretch, Fields has yet to finish any higher than the QB23 in a given week. I would much rather stream the options ranked below ahead of him given their play volume.
Elijah Mitchell (MCL) will reportedly miss "about two months", which logically keeps him sidelined through San Francisco's Week 9 bye. I'm comfortable dropping him for Jordan Mason (exclusively as a stash) on waivers in shallower leagues that do not have an IR slot. The opposite is true for rosters with 8-10-player benches, qualifying Mitchell as a speculative addition for the final two months of the year.
Ken Walker has totaled seven carries in two appearances behind Rashaad Penny, most recently running fewer routes than Travis Homer (12-6) in a game the latter exited in the third quarter with bruised ribs. There is no scenario where Walker is startable as long as Penny is healthy.
The good news is Darnell Mooney led the Bears with a 35.2% target share in Week 3. Unfortunately, that share only amounted to six targets and 23 receiving yards amid Chicago’s worthless passing game. An upside stash is worth far more than Mooney on benches at this time.
