Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Watch Week 5: Latavius Murray, Mike Boone Unite in Denver
As a refresher, The Drop List consists of players who are rostered in at least 50% of Yahoo leagues and are no longer must-have assets, recommended additions are available in over 50% of Yahoo leagues, the Watch List contains in-depth notes on fringe waiver adds, and Deep Cuts includes player notes on those rostered in 5% or fewer of Yahoo and FFPC leagues.
The Drop List
- QB: Aaron Rodgers
- RB: Elijah Mitchell
- WR: Darnell Mooney, Allen Robinson
- TE: -
Aaron Rodgers has yet to finish any higher than the QB12 in any performance this year since he's operating a sluggish offense ranked 30th in neutral pace, 23rd in neutral pass play rate, and has targeted his running backs at the fifth-highest rate in the league. Jared Goff, Jameis Winston, and Geno Smith remain stronger streamers (in the right matchup) given their surrounding environments.
Elijah Mitchell (MCL) will reportedly miss "about two months", which logically keeps him sidelined through San Francisco's Week 9 bye. I'm comfortable dropping him for Jordan Mason (exclusively as a stash) on waivers in shallower leagues that do not have an IR slot. The opposite is true for rosters with 8-10-player benches, qualifying Mitchell as a speculative addition for the final two months of the year.
Mooney's team-high 23.4% target share has resulted in four inaccurate targets per game from Justin Fields. Shoot for a high upside stash over Mooney on benches.
Whereas Robert Woods (21.5% target share) and Odell Beckham (17%) were treated as the Rams' second receiver in the first- and second-half of the season behind Cooper Kupp last year, Allen Robinson is clearly viewed as the team's third wideout behind Tyler Higbee (24.2%) this year. Thus he's droppable for a player with more upside — George Pickens, Michael Gallup — down the road.
