Fantasy Football Defense Streaming Week 16: Bengals Continue To Attack

Defense Streaming Week 16

This is going to be an interesting playoff semi-final week with so many injuries and benchings at the quarterback position last week. Patrick Mahomes, Geno Smith, and Tommy DeVito left injured last week. Josh Allen went for an x-ray but should be fine. Justin Herbert also got hurt, and while he did return, the Chargers are on a short week. We also have a potential toss-up in Las Vegas as well if Aidan O’Connell is able to start. Plus, Jameis Winston and Will Levis were benched.

There are about a half-dozen teams I considered this week, but with less competition for streamers, we narrowed it down to the top four options this week. Sadly, I don’t think any of our options this week will have multi-week appeal as all four are in pretty negative matchups in Week 17, but for this week we can enjoy them!

Week 15 Review

Things were looking really good and and like we’d have a 4-0 week on hits, but then Spencer Rattler replaced Jake Haener, and instead of taking a bunch of sacks and throwing an interception or three, he actually led a comeback against Washington. In fact, they were one poorly designed 2-point conversion away from winning the game. So Washington fell out of the top 12 DST’s. Arizona gave up a late touchdown to New England to fall out as well, but they were unable to wreak havoc on Drake Maye as we expected.

On the positive side, Atlanta and Dallas both finished as top-5 DST’s this week. Another team we talked up in the looking ahead section, the Bengals, also had a great week, but we didn’t officially write them up.

Overall, we’re at 40 hits and 16 misses this year.

Green Bay Packers vs. New Orleans Saints

We’re returning to the well to target the Saints' backup situation. Things looked promising before Spencer Rattler came in against Washington, but Green Bay’s defense is solid and has been playing well. They got to tee off on Sam Howell for a quarter and put up big numbers last week.

The Saints currently rank 25th in aFPA against opposing defenses and present a great matchup for an opportunistic Green Bay defense. Even without Jaire Alexander, we’ve seen this Packers' defense create turnovers in the secondary. Even with Rattler’s improved play last week, Washington’s defense is not very good, so we shouldn’t be too concerned with Green Bay.
