It’s the year of the rookie wide receiver in the NFL and as much as Giants WR Odell Beckham has stood out, he’s got plenty of company.

A dozen or more rookies are making impacts, and while the list includes first-round picks like Beckham, the Bucs’ Mike Evans, the Panthers’ Kelvin Benjamin, the Bills’ Sammy Watkins and the Saints’ now-injured Brandin Cooks, second rounder Allen Robinson of the Jaguars, third-rounder John Brown in Arizona and even an undrafted free agent like the Browns’ Taylor Gabriel are getting into the act.

Of the 12 WRs selected in the first two rounds of the 2014 draft, only one, Cody Latimer, who has been a healthy scratch most of the year for the Broncos, hasn’t reached double digits in catches. At this pace, it will be the best receiving class in history. Draft experts agreed this was going to be a rich, deep vein but they’ve even gone beyond expectations.

It never used to be that way but rookie WRs are now making an immediate impact and help to make it a deep position in the fantasy world. Drafting them in the right round is often the key to taking advantage of their value, though. For the most part, the guys mentioned above in the story did take at least some time to develop. As always, the later you can snag a rookie, and let him ride your bench until he develops is the key. We try not to advise our subscribers to jump too early on them despite excitement surround them.

Colin Kaepernick has attempted more deep passes than anyone in the NFL. Yes, more than Andrew Luck, Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, and, heck, almost twice as many as Aaron Rodgers.

Failure with the long ball has helped turn the 49ers (7-5) into long shots at a playoff berth.

Kaepernick went 0-of-10 on throws of at least 10 yards in Thursday night’s 19-3 flop against the Seattle Seahawks, and both of Richard Sherman’s interceptions came on two such passes.

“It’s not an evolved passing game. It doesn’t seem like cutting edge,” said Hall of Fame wide receiver James Lofton, an all-time great deep threat.

There’s no doubting Kaepernick has one of the league’s strongest arms. That helped make him such a fascinating prospect when he replaced Alex Smith in the midst of a 2012 run to the Super Bowl the story said. Kaepernick’s accuracy, however, ranks 20th when it comes to passes of 20 yards or more, the story continued. He’s attempted a league-high 61 passes in that range, and he’s completed 20, with four touchdowns and four interceptions.

Vikings beat writer Ben Goessling answered a question about the Vikings WRs:

I wouldn't say Charles Johnson separated himself from the group. But the fact that this is even an open question tells you how little has gone according to plan for the Vikings' passing game. It's difficult to separate the performance of the Vikings' receivers from the play of a rookie quarterback and the poor job the Vikings' offensive line has done protecting Teddy Bridgewater, but when they invested $18 million guaranteed in Greg Jennings and gave up three picks to get Cordarrelle Patterson in 2013, they should be getting more than they are.

Jennings is a prime candidate for a contract restructuring after this season; he's scheduled to count $11 million against the cap in 2015, when he will turn 32, and has no guaranteed cash left in his deal. With 40 catches through 11 games, it's doubtful he'll play at that cap figure next year.

The story makes a great point about how Charles Johnson being the team's best receiver shouldn't be a topic, but the team hasn't got much of anything from Patterson - as fantasy owners know first hand. HC Mike Zimmer said last week it may even take a while for Patterson to get it. He's struggled with running patterns throughout his career. Either way, Viking WRs will make for risky fantasy plays.

Colts beat writer Mike Wells answered a question about Donte Moncrief and the WR2 role on the team:

T.Y. Hilton will hold onto the torch for a number of years before Donte Moncrief gets hold of it. Hilton has unofficially taken the torch from Wayne as Andrew Luck's big-play target. Wayne is still Luck's security blanket, but the days of him outrunning the defense for a 50-yard touchdown have passed. Wayne knows it, too.

But I'll still take Wayne over most defensive backs when it comes to getting open on short to intermediate routes. Moncrief will become the Colts' No. 2 receiver sooner than later. It just won't happen until Wayne decides to call it quits on his likely Hall-of-Fame career.

According to Wells it looks like Wayne may hold the WR2 role a little longer. But Moncrief at least appears to be poised to steal WR3 targets away from Hakeem Nicks. By next year, it looks safe to assume Moncrief will be the clear WR3.

Bills K Dan Carpenter (right groin, probable) took limited practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 13. It does not appear that Thomas will return this week, and Jacob Tamme proved to be a not-so-good fallback option in Week 12. The Broncos play on Sunday night, so this is a tough situation for fantasy owners who want to wait to see if Thomas is active.

Buccaneers TE Luke Stocker (concussion, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 13.

Bills TE Lee Smith (illness) was removed from the injury report Friday.

Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (back, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 13. Both ASJ and Brandon Myers are questionable.

Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (abdomen, groin, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13. Rudolph’s Snap % was 88% in Week 12, so it’s time to start thinking of him as a high-end TE2/low-end TE1 in Norv Turner’s TE-friendly offense.

Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring, questionable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 13. Reed says he’s going to play on Sunday. If he’s out Niles Paul is a decent dart throw with Colt McCoy at quarterback. Of his 42 pass attempts in a game and a half of action, McCoy targeted a tight end 15 times (35.7%). Washington plays early on Sunday.

Buccaneers TE Brandon Myers (calf, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 13.

Steelers TE Heath Miller (not injury related, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13.

Broncos TE Virgil Green (calf, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Vikings TE Chase Ford (hamstring, foot, questionable) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 13.

Chiefs TE Anthony Fasano (knee, probable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13.

Rams TE Jared Cook (back, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13. Cook is a high-end TE2 against the Raiders simply due to the number of targets he receives.

Dolphins TE Charles Clay (hamstring, knee) missed practice Friday after taking limited reps Thursday. It looks like Clay may be able to return to face the Jets on Monday night. He’ll be a high-end TE2 in a nice matchup. His status will be updated on Saturday.

Browns TE Jordan Cameron (concussion, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 13. Cameron may have to pass further concussion tests to play in Week 13. It sounds like he’s getting close. We should know more by Saturday. The Bills are #1 in TE aFPA, so it’s not a good matchup.

Packers TE Brandon Bostick (hip, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 13.

Jets TE Jace Amaro (concussion) missed practice again Friday. Amaro is in the league’s concussion protocol. If he can’t play, Jeff Cumberland might be used more often in the passing game.

Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 13. Coby Fleener is locked in to heavy snaps with Allen out.

Vikings WR Jarius Wright (hamstring, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle, probable) took limited practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13. Woods is a go for a matchup with the Browns. He has gained at least 50 yards and/or found the endzone in four of his last six games.

Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 13. White hasn’t practiced all week and once said (about a different injury) that if he doesn’t practice, fantasy owners shouldn’t start him. The Falcons play in the late round of games on Sunday, which complicates matters, though HC Mike Smith says he feels “confident” that White will play. Harry Douglas would be a serviceable plug-and-play if White can’t go.

Colts WR Reggie Wayne (not injury related, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13. No worries here.

Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (chest) took limited practice reps again Friday. His status will be updated on Saturday, but he’s expected to play against the Jets.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (illness, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13. Shorts will play, but is a sketchy start with the way QB Blake Bortles is playing.

Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (illness) was removed from the injury report Friday after taking full practice reps Thursday. Sanu is good to go for a great matchup with the Bucs.

Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (knee, probable) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is probable for Week 13. Patterson will play against the Panthers, though it appears that the Vikings want to evaluate Charles Johnson, who has played well in the last two weeks.

Saints WR Robert Meachem (ankle, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (groin) took full practice reps Friday.

Bengals WR Greg Little (illness, probable) returned to take full practice reps Friday after missing practice Thursday and is probable for Week 13.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) was removed from the injury report Friday after taking full practice reps Thursday. Landry has been the #17 WR in PPR formats since Week 6. He has a nice matchup with the Jets.

Patriots WR Brandon LaFell (shoulder, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 13. LaFell is expected to play in a nice matchup with the Packers. The Patriots play in the late round of games, however.

Texans WR Andre Johnson (not injury related, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13.

Vikings WR Greg Jennings (rib, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Chiefs WR Junior Hemingway (concussion, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 13.

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (knee, questionable) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 13. Fitzgerald called himself “highly likely” to play, though he was apparently limited in Friday’s practice. The Cardinals play in the late round of games on Sunday, so it will be difficult to trust him if he’s a true game-time decision. John Brown and Michael Floyd would get a bump if Fitzgerald is out.

Patriots WR Julian Edelman (thigh, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13. Edelman will play in a nice matchup with Green Bay.

Falcons WR Harry Douglas (foot, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 13.

Jets WR Eric Decker (toe) took full practice reps again Friday. In the five games in which Geno Smith attempted more than 15 passes (and Decker played at least 60% of the snaps), Decker averaged 4.6 receptions for 61 yards and 0.60 TD on 8.0 targets per game.

Ravens WR Michael Campanaro (thigh, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 13.

Steelers WR Martavis Bryant (illness, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13. Bryant is a worthwhile start against a shaky Saints pass defense.

Cardinals WR John Brown (teeth, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13. Brown is a Sneaky Start this week given a good matchup and the questionable status of Larry Fitzgerald.

Rams WR Kenny Britt (back, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13. Britt is good to go for a date with the Raiders.

Giants WR Odell Beckham (back, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13. Beckham left the game briefly on Sunday night but returned to finish the game. He will play against Jacksonville in Week 13.

Chiefs WR Donnie Avery (groin, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 13. It appears that Avery will finally return to the Chiefs’ lineup. He brings experience and speed, but he isn’t much of a fantasy option even in a favorable matchup.

Packers WR Davante Adams (heel, probable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 13. Adams may see a few extra targets if the Patriots are able to take away Jordy Nelson and/or Randall Cobb.

Titans RB Leon Washington (hamstring, probable) took limited practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Patriots RB Shane Vereen (ankle, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 13. Vereen is expected to play through the questionable tag, but the Patriots play in the late round of games on Sunday.

Panthers RB Mike Tolbert (knee, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Broncos RB Juwan Thompson (knee, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Saints RB Pierre Thomas (ribs, shoulder, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13. Thomas is averaging 12.8 PPG in PPR formats, which are strong RB2 numbers. He returned to a significant role in Week 12.

Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 13. Sims should continue to play in the Bucs’ ugly running back committee. He’s not an attractive play this week.

Saints RB Khiry Robinson (forearm, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 13. Robinson continues to miss time. Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas will see the bulk of the snaps against the Steelers.

Jets RB Bilal Powell (illness) took full practice reps again Friday.

Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion, out) missed practice Friday after taking limited reps Thursday and is out for Week 13. Darren McFadden will likely lead a committee that could also include Maurice Jones-Drew and Marcel Reece.

Dolphins RB Lamar Miller (knee) took full practice reps again Friday. Miller’s status will be updated on Saturday, though he’s expected to play in a tough matchup, though the Jets have a few injuries along the defensive line that may make this matchup more palatable.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (back, doubtful) missed practice all week and is doubtful for Week 13. McKinnon must have had some sort of setback with the back. He’s listed as doubtful, but he says he’s out for Sunday. Look for Matt Asiata, Joe Banyard and Ben Tate to form a committee in a pretty nice matchup with the Panthers.

Titans RB Dexter McCluster (concussion, probable) took limited practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13.

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (shoulder, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 13. Mathews is expected to play in a tough matchup against the Ravens. He’s a low-end RB2 this week.

Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) took full practice reps again Friday.

Patriots beat writer Mike Reiss on how the Patriots' cornerbacks will match up with the Packer receivers: My educated guess early in the week would be Darrelle Revis on Randall Cobb and then Brandon Browner on Jordy Nelson, with the safety help from Devin McCourty over the top. They'll obviously mix up their looks between man and zone, as is the norm.

Revis has been significantly better than Browner in coverage, so if Reiss is right about Browner on Nelson, then he might be the better start this week. Reiss did mention safety help on Nelson, which makes sense if Revis can handle Cobb in the slot.

Vikings TE Chase Ford (hamstring, foot) did not practice Wednesday.

Eagles TE Zach Ertz (oblique, probable) practiced fully Wednesday. Ertz has been losing snaps to WR Jordan Matthews and he hasn’t cracked 6.0 standard fantasy points since Week 6.

Browns TE Jordan Cameron (concussion) took limited practice reps Wednesday. HC Mike Pettine said that they’re looking for Cameron “to practice symptom-free for a couple of days in a row.” He’s making progress and may play this week.

Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. We’re assuming Allen is out until he starts practicing. Coby Fleener was a disappointment last week, but he’s still a low-end TE1 against Washington this week.

Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Woods has played better of late, especially the 9-118-1 he laid on the Jets in Week 12. He now has 50-plus yards and/or a TD in four of his last six games.

Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (finger, probable) practiced fully Wednesday. Williams is expected to play, but the broken fingertip is obviously a worry for a player who makes a living using his hands. He has a great matchup against the Eagles, but is more of a dart throw given than a solid play his recent production.

Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. This is the first we’ve heard about an ankle injury for White, though he’ll likely be active for a so-so matchup against the Cardinals.

Colts WR Reggie Wayne (not injury related) did not practice Wednesday. This is typical for Wayne.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (illness) did not practice Wednesday. Shorts should be fine by Sunday.

Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (not injury related) did not practice Wednesday. We’ll monitor this, but it’s probably just a day of rest for Sanu.

Titans RB Dexter McCluster (concussion) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (shoulder) practiced fully Wednesday. Mathews is expected to play in a tough matchup against the Ravens. He’s a low-end RB2 this week.

Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (back, probable) practiced fully Wednesday. Lynch is fully expected to play through the injury.

Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) practiced fully Wednesday. Ingram should continue to carry the load with Khiry Robinson sidelined.

Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) did not practice Wednesday. Hillman remains out.

49ers RB Frank Gore (knee, probable) practiced fully Wednesday. Gore is good to go for a tough matchup against the Seahawks. He hasn’t run well in Seattle, but in his last two home games against the Seahawks, he has averaged 146 total yards.

Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) took limited practice reps Wednesday. It's a good sign that Foster is practicing this early in the week, even if he's limited. Remember, he was limited on Wednesday last week before sitting out of practice the rest of the week, so we'll see how the groin responds on Thursday and Friday. If he plays, he’ll have an outstanding matchup against the Titans, who are last in the league in RB aFPA.

Saints RB Travaris Cadet (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday.

Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle, back, questionable) took limited practice reps Wednesday. It appears Bush will play, but we won’t know for sure until inactives are announced on Thursday morning at around 8:00 a.m. ET.

Broncos RB Montee Ball (groin) did not practice Wednesday. Ball is not expected back this week, so it looks like C.J. Anderson is in for a huge workload against the Chiefs.

Vikings RB Matt Asiata (concussion) took limited practice reps Wednesday. It looks like Asiata may be on his way back. He’ll vie with Ben Tate and Joe Banyard for touches behind Jerick McKinnon.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back, probable) practiced fully Wednesday. Romo is a great start this week against the Eagles.

Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone, out) was ruled out for Week 13. Mark Sanchez is a Sneaky Start against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. He is the #6 QB in the last three weeks.

Patriots QB Tom Brady (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday. No worries here. Tom Terrific will be out there against the Packers in Week 13.

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (left wrist) practiced fully Wednesday. Bortles should be fine for a solid matchup against the Giants.

Jets rookie tight end Jace Amaro has a head injury and is going through the NFL's concussion protocol.

Coach Rex Ryan wouldn't confirm whether Amaro actually has a concussion, but the rookie's status for the Jets' game against the Miami Dolphins next Monday night is uncertain.

Washington Post Redskins writer Mike Jones answered a fan's question about Robert Griffin III and the team's playcalling for him:

HC Jay Gruden's calling a vanilla offense because Griffin can’t handle a more complicated scheme right now. He has to call quick-hitters in an attempt to get the ball out of the quarterback’s hands, because he’s holding on to it too long as he struggles to play with rhythm and anticipation.

Gruden couldn’t afford to have Griffin stand in the pocket and wait for things to unfold downfield on Sunday because of the fierce 49ers defense. He got sacked six times while waiting for intermediate routes to unfold. Gruden tried to spice things up by calling for the Pierre Garcon end-around/pass downfield. He also called for Griffin to take a shot downfield, but he threw into double coverage and didn’t even see Pierre Garcon wide open in single coverage, also downfield.

Jones answered many frustrating questions from fans about RGIII. Another interesting answer was that Gruden is likely very frustrated Griffin hasn't picked up more of the offense by now, which leads Gruden to say things like: they intend to start Griffin this week. Jones went on to say Gruden was hired to fix RGIII but so far that hasn't happened and while he likely feels he needs to give RGIII more time, watching this offense is a struggle. It all adds up to meaning just about everyone on the Redskins offense is a risky fantasy play, especially as we head into the fantasy playoff season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced that they have promoted tight end Cameron Brate from the practice squad, signed tight end D.J. Williams and waived wide receiver Marcus Thigpen.

Saints wide receiver Nick Toon received the biggest bump in playing time with Brandin Cooks' injury. Toon played 44 offensive snaps (60 percent) in by far his most plentiful snap count this season.

Running back Pierre Thomas jumped back in with 39 snaps (53 percent). This led to a drop for Mark Ingram, who only played on 25 snaps (34 percent).

Thomas had just five carries to Ingram's 11, but as expected, Thomas was a big part in the passing game with six catches for 37 yards. Ingram had a tough time, at one point having seven carries for 0 yards before finishing with a 11-27-0 line. At WR, Toon ended with three catches for 42 yards but it was Kenny Stills who had eight catches for 98 yards and seemed to benefit the most from a fantasy perspective with Cooks not being in the lineup.

Redskins WR Pierre Garçon would rather be catching passes than throwing them. Last year Garçon was targeted 181 times, or more than 11 times per game. This season he has been targeted 68 times, about six times per game. He’s on pace to catch 67 passes this year, a far cry for the team-record 113 he caught in 2013.

It was expected that Garçon would catch fewer passes last year with the addition of DeSean Jackson. But it’s not like he has caught a ton of passes either; Jackson will catch 61 at his current pace.

The Redskins have started three different quarterbacks this year and while all have struggled in various ways, Robert Griffin III has been the least effective of them and he has started the last three games, all losses.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden understands the frustration.

“You get paid to play wide receiver,” he said. “You get paid to catch balls and they’re not catching the balls they’re accustomed to catching. We’ve just got to find out ways to get them the ball. You only have one ball. You hand the ball off to Alfred and throw some quick gains. The backs are involved, the tight ends are involved and over the course of the game, sometimes you don’t get as many as you would like.”

Perhaps the final hope for Garcon owners was the return of RGIII at QB. Garcon's targets had dipped with Colt McCoy and Kirk Cousins under center this season, but that increase hasn't taken place since Griffin returned making Garcon not much of a fantasy option with this struggling offense.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are adding former Bills quarterback Thaddeus Lewis to the mix.

With Ryan Mallett out for the year with a torn pectoral muscle, the Texans needed someone to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick and rookie Tom Savage.

When Calvin Johnson missed three games earlier this season, it gave Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford a chance to get comfortable with and accustomed to all of the other targets on the team's roster.

Golden Tate thrived and is already over 1,000 yards this season.

But since Johnson returned against Miami in Week 10, the all-too-familiar Stafford-to-Johnson combination has not been as effective as normal. Stafford has only completed 43 percent of his targets to Johnson over the past three weeks and it is the first time since Johnson's rookie season in 2007 that he has gone three straight weeks catching less than 50 percent of his targets.

The story goes on to say that over the past three weeks, Johnson has been targeted 37 times, caught 16 passes for 230 yards with two drops. In comparison, Tate has been targeted 24 times and caught 17 passes for 247 yards and no drops. Caldwell believes Johnson is still moving at the same speed as he did at the beginning of the season, despite an ankle injury that limited him in two games and kept him out of three others.

Raiders wide receiver Rod Streater, out with a foot fracture since Week 3, was back on the practice field. Streater led the Raiders in receiving with 60 receptions for 888 yards in 2013 and had nine catches for 84 yards at the time of his injury in a 16-9 loss to New England.

"I think I'm close," Streater said. "I went through pretty much the whole practice without any pain. Cutting, running full speed, catching it.''

"It looked like he ran around pretty good," Raiders coach Tony Sparano said. "I know he was pretty excited to get back out there, so we'll see. We've got to be patient, but he looked good doing what he was doing.''

Placed on the designated for return injured reserve list on Oct. 2, the Raiders must either put Streater on the 53-man roster within 21 days or place him on injured reserve, which would end his season.

Raiders RB Latavius Murray not practicing. Was concussed on Thursday.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Monday that running back Arian Foster could return to action Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

Foster has missed the Texans’ last two games due to a groin injury.

“There’s a potential that he could play,” O’Brien said Monday at NRG Stadium. “He feels better (Monday). Hopefully he’ll be out there at practice and hopefully that’s something that he’ll be able to help us on gameday.”

It's not a lot to go on, but it's only Monday. Rookie Alfred Blue has filled in as the Texans’ primary back but failed to gain traction last Sunday during a home loss to Cincinnati.

Coach HC Chuck Pagano says TE Dwayne Allen is trending in the right direction. Day-to-day.

Colby Fleener would get the nod again if Allen doesn't play. Even with Allen out in Week 12, Fleener didn't produce the fantasy numbers owners hoped for. The Colts host the Redskins in a pretty friendly matchup in Week 13.

One of the biggest questions facing the Pittsburgh Steelers as they make a push for an AFC North title: What role will rookie Dri Archer carve out in the backfield?

To say the third-round draft pick has been a bit player through his first nine NFL games would be an understatement.

The release of LeGarrette Blount has seemingly created an opening for Archer. But does he really have much more of an opportunity with Blount gone? The Steelers were already phasing Blount out of the offense before the temper tantrum last Monday night that led to his release. Getting rid of Blount only clarified that Le’Veon Bell is the Steelers’ starting running back, third-down back and goal-line back.

Mike Tomlin did not opt for subtlety last week when asked his opinion of Archer and what the Kent State product has shown through roughly the first three quarters of the season.

“Not much,” the eighth-year Steelers coach said. “He is a young guy. He has some talent. He has worked hard. We will see where he is.”

The story went on to say that the Steelers have not figured out a way to use Archer and his supreme speed. But one thing hasn’t fundamentally changed when it comes to the 5-8, 173-pounder: Archer still has to make the most of limited touches before he earns a bigger role in the offense.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton's left ankle is "fine."

With about 7 minutes left in Sunday's 19-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Stanton went to the sideline and got his left ankle taped.

"We're good," he said. "I was just scrambling, got rolled up a little bit, just kinda got caught in the pile. It wasn't anything major."

"It's not anything severe," Stanton said. "It's just precautionary for tape."

After it was taped, Stanton walked on it and could be seen testing it on the sideline. In the meantime, backup quarterback Logan Thomas started warming up, even going so far as taking snaps on the sideline from center Lyle Sendlein the story said. It's something to keep an eye on this week. The Cards have a potentially friendly matchup at Atlanta in a later-afternoon game.

Odell Beckham Jr. was the best player on the field on Sunday night, but briefly left the game with what the team called a back injury in the fourth quarter.

Beckham made his tenth catch of the evening early in the fourth and tried to stretch for a first down, but was taken down by several Cowboys defenders. He appeared to take an elbow and then a foot to the helmet while being tackled.

After being examined by trainers for several moments, Beckham got to his feet but stumbled backward, still obviously shaken up, the story said. He was then taken to the locker room but returned minutes later and was on for the Giants' next series.

When the Dallas Cowboys practice on Monday, quarterback Tony Romo plans to be on the field.

"I don’t know that we’re going to have much time to go too hard," Romo said after the Cowboys beat the New York Giants on Sunday. "I think if you’re playing in football games, I’m sure you can make it through walk-throughs."

Romo has not practiced all three days leading up to a game since the second game of the season as he has rested and rehabbed his surgically repaired back. With a quick turnaround for the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, the Cowboys will not have a strenuous practice schedule.

They will have a quick practice on Monday and hold a "Wednesday" practice on Tuesday and a red-zone and short-yardage practice on Wednesday.

Romo has a potential great matchup Thanksgiving, at home against the Eagles. There could be a lot of points scored this game and Romo should have a solid ranking when ours come out later this week. Romo plays the Eagles twice in the next three weeks.

Buccaneers rookie tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins suffered a back injury.

ASJ didn't return to the game and no further information was available. Brandon Myers would likely have to pick up the slack if ASJ misses any time going forward. Myers had just one catch for nine yards in Week 12.

Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson was slow to get up after he was dragged down on his 42-yard kickoff return in the third quarter and sustained knee and ankle injuries on the play.

But Patterson said he thought he'd be fine and added he didn't want to give up kickoff-return duties because of the injury risk.

"Of course it's always risk-reward every time you get back there on a kickoff return," Patterson said. "But it's my job. Being back there, I have to take full advantage of it."

Patterson was able to return to the game. Outside of a few games this season, Patterson hasn't been much of a fantasy factor, and we had a news story this week where head coach Mike Zimmer said it may take a while until Patterson gets it. Patterson continues to struggle with route running.

The Denver Broncos have shuffled their thin backfield on the eve of their showdown with the Miami Dolphins. They promoted Jeremy Stewart from their practice squad and waived rookie Kapri Bibbs.

Stewart gives the Broncos' backfield more experience with Ronnie Hillman (foot) and Montee Ball (groin) sidelined.

Stewart is a third-year pro from Cal who appeared in 17 games during his first two NFL seasons in Oakland. The Broncos signed him to their practice squad Oct. 8. Stewart has one career TD run on 27 carries for 103 yards and 10 catches for 68 yards. He also plays special teams and owns a 17.3-yard average on eight kickoff returns. He'll likely be behind starter C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson. It's possibly Hillman returns for Week 13.

There are several reasons to believe Browns WR Josh Gordon, 23, will provide a significant boost for the offense.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan won’t radically change his scheme or philosophy because of Gordon’s return. His offense will continue to be predicated on a running game fueled by zone blocking and a passing attack largely dependent on play-action fakes.

But Gordon, who led the NFL last season with 1,646 receiving yards despite playing only 14 games, gives Shanahan opportunities to ambush defenses in different ways.

“I don’t know how much [the offense] changes,” Shanahan said. “I think it makes things easier. It gives you some different options. Sometimes it can change what coverages you see, and when you see different coverages, then you do have to change schematically with what you’re attacking. You try to get guys who are good players the ball, but also when coverages take them away, it helps other guys get the ball.”

The story went on to say that Shanahan’s plays have been able to get receivers open all season, so the possibilities should be endless with Gordon. One positive note to consider, as the story pointed out, when Gordon returned from a two-game suspension last year, Hoyer targeted him 19 times. The All-Pro receiver responded with 10 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown in a 31-27 road win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Leading 24-0 with 8:30 left in the Bengals game, the Colts turned to Daniel “Boom” Herron to milk the clock.

Herron’s drive of five carries for 37 yards ended in a field goal for the Colts and offered another glimpse of what the team’s third running back could provide the offense.

Now, with Ahmad Bradshaw placed on injured reserve, those mop-up carries could become much more meaningful.

“It’s time for Boom Herron to step up, which everybody on the team has full confidence in,” Reggie Waynesays.

The longest extended look Colts fans have gotten of Herron was at this year’s Training Camp in Anderson. With Bradshaw and Trent Richardson dealing with injuries, Herron got plenty of first team work throughout camp and the preseason.

“He’s done it in practice. He did it in the preseason. When he’s gotten his chances in the games this year, he’s done a heck of a job,” Andrew Luck says of his “110 percent” confidence in Herron.

In the preseason, Herron was the team’s leading rusher (22 carries for 112 yards) and leading receiver (11 catches for 55 yards). The hope his Herron slides right in as a result of learning the offense during the preseason and camp with all the injuries. Richardson hasn't been all that impressive, so it seems possible Herron has a decent chance to put up fantasy numbers, perhaps especially in the passing game. He's certainly worth grabbing, at least in a little deeper PPR leagues.

Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson clearly is pressing.

"I've been thinking too much, want to make too many plays. When you start doing stuff like that, you start messing up," he said. "I've messed up a lot this year. This week I'm going to just try not to think -- have fun and enjoy, just try to get a touchdown."

Bills K Dan Carpenter (right groin) was removed from the injury report Friday after taking limited practice reps Thursday.

Titans TE Delanie Walker (concussion, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. He’s on track to play. The Eagles have been surprisingly good against tight ends, though Walker is a solid start whenever he’s active.

Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 12. Thomas appears to be a game-time decision, though hopefully we’ll know more by Sunday morning since Denver plays in the late round of games. Jacob Tamme would likely get most of his snaps if he can’t play.

Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (abdomen, groin, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Rudolph seems to be getting close to 100 percent, though we wouldn’t recommend him after his goose egg last week.

Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 12. Reed’s injury is not to the same hamstring as his injury earlier in the year. Niles Paul will be a Sneaky Start in his place, though the Redskins’ passing game has taken a step back since the return of Robert Griffin III. Paul averaged 4.5-58-0.25 in four games as he starter — he was the #11 TE in that span.

Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew (foot, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 12.

49ers TE Vance McDonald (hip, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 12.

Ravens TE Owen Daniels (not injury related) returned to take full practice reps Friday after missing practice Thursday. Daniels was just getting some rest.

Rams TE Jared Cook (back, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 12. Cook may play against the Chargers, but he’s not good enough to ignore red flags like back injuries and bad matchups.

Dolphins TE Charles Clay (knee, doubtful) missed practice again Friday and is doubtful for Week 12. Midweek downgrades due to new injuries typically result in a missed game and the doubtful tag confirms that he’s likely to miss Week 12. There are no good alternatives in Miami, though owners could pickup and start someone like Coby Fleener, Niles Paul or Marcedes Lewis.

Browns TE Jordan Cameron (concussion, out) returned to take limited reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is out for Week 12. The good news is that Cameron returned to practice on Friday, so maybe a return is growing closer. He could be a good stretch-run add for TE-needy teams.

Packers TE Brandon Bostick (hip, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 12.

Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 12. Coby Fleener can be dialed up as a top 5 option against the Jaguars. Fleener has gained 64-plus yards and/or scored a touchdown in six of his last eight games, and is the #8 TE over that span.

Vikings WR Jarius Wright (hamstring, questionable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 12. Wright should play against the Packers, though he’s no sure thing given the questionable tag.

Colts WR Reggie Wayne (not injury related, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 12. Wayne will be fine for a pretty nice matchup against the Jaguars.

Bills WR Sammy Watkins (groin) was removed from the injury report Friday after taking full practice reps Thursday. Watkins should be fine for a nice matchup against the Jets.

Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (calf, probable) took limited practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Wallace should be fine for a pretty good matchup against the Broncos.

Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (concussion, probable) took full practice reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is probable for Week 12. In a surprise development, Sanders is in for Week 12. Consider him a strong WR2 in a tough matchup against the Dolphins. It’ll be tough to bench him given the way he has played this season.

Bears WR Josh Morgan (shoulder, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 12.

Saints WR Robert Meachem (ankle) took limited practice reps again Friday.

Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Matthews now has 15-285-4 in 11 quarters with Mark Sanchez. That works out to 5.5-104-1.5 over a normal, four-quarter game.

Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle, probable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 12. Marshall should be fine to play in a great matchup against the Bucs.

49ers WR Brandon Lloyd (quadricep, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder, probable) took limited practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Since Week 6, Landry has been the #23 WR in PPR formats, averaging 5.0 catches for 48 yards and 0.5 touchdowns. The shoulder isn’t much of a concern.

Falcons WR Julio Jones (illness, probable) took full practice reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is probable for Week 12. Jones is getting over a bug, but is fully expected to play against the Browns. The missed practice time is a slight concern.

Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle, probable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 12. Megatron is ready to go for a tough matchup against New England.

Texans WR Andre Johnson (not injury related, probable) missed practice Friday and is probable for Week 12. No worries here, other than a bad matchup with Cincinnati.

Vikings WR Greg Jennings (rib, questionable) took full practice reps Friday after missing practice earlier in the week and is questionable for Week 12. It now looks like Jennings will play against his old team, but he has not had much success against the Packers. He has just 69 yards — total — in three games against Green Bay.

Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 12. Jeffery should be fine for a great matchup against the Bucs.

Titans WR Justin Hunter (knee, questionable) took full practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 12. Hunter’s return to full participation is a strong indicator that he’ll be fine for a great matchup against the Eagles.

Bills WR Chris Hogan (hip) was removed from the injury report Friday after taking full practice reps Thursday. Hogan has averaged 12.6 fantasy points in PPR formats since Week 6.

Falcons WR Devin Hester (wrist, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12.

Browns WR Josh Gordon (not injury related) took limited practice reps all week. We have Gordon ranked as a high-end WR2 in his first game back. His matchup with the Falcons is highly favorable.

Bills WR Marquise Goodwin (ankle) was removed from the injury report Friday after taking full practice reps Thursday.

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (knee, questionable) missed practice all week and is questionable for Week 12. Fitzgerald hopes to play through the sprain, though HC Bruce Arians called him “iffy” for Week 12. He’ll be a game-time decision. The Cardinals play late on Sunday, so he won’t be an attractive start, especially in a bad matchup with the Seahawks. In fact, we’re not all that excited about Michael Floyd or John Brown even if Fitz is out.

Saints RB Pierre Thomas (rib, shoulder) took limited practice reps again Friday. Thomas may make his return this week, but we’ll know more after Saturday’s practice. He’ll be a RB3/flex type in his first game back.

Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 12. Doug Martin (ankle, questionable) is also questionable. Sims likely gets the lion’s share if they both play, but neither is an attractive start at this point.

Saints RB Khiry Robinson (forearm) missed practice again Friday. Robinson remains out, which means Mark Ingram’s workload remains safe.

Colts RB Trent Richardson (illness, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 12. Richardson is in line for a big workload, though the team may elect to give most of Ahmad Bradshaw’s carries to Dan Herron. T-Rich is a fairly safe RB2 this week.

Bengals RB Cedric Peerman (hip, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 12.

Dolphins RB Lamar Miller (shoulder, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 12. Miller expects to play against the Broncos despite the questionable tag. It’s a tough matchup from a rushing standpoint, but Miller is typically involved in the passing game, and Miami may throw more than usual against Denver.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (back, probable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 12. McKinnon played through the back injury last week and should do so again in Week 12. Of greater concern is the arrival of Ben Tate, whom the Vikings picked up via waivers. McKinnon’s workload should be safe this week, but the long-term impact of Tate’s arrival likely won’t be positive for the rookie.

Texans RB Arian Foster (groin, questionable) missed practice again Friday and is questionable for Week 12. We doubt that Foster will play after missing practice all week. The Texans play early on Sunday and Foster should be started if he’s active. Right now, we have Alfred Blue at #11, assuming Foster misses another game.

Bernard will likely make his return against the Texans, though we don’t know what type of workload he’ll see in his first game back. ESPN beat writer Coley Harvey reported that Bernard “went through drills as the No. 1 back, getting reps ahead of rookie Jeremy Hill” on Thursday. Hill has been running well (5.73 YPC in the last three games), so the team may still elect to ease Bernard back in as Hill’s backup. Beat writer Paul Dehner suggests a 65:35 split, with Hill leading the way.

Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 12. Bell will play. The Patriots have been a pretty good matchup for opposing running backs this season. Bell could turn into a very good start if Reggie Bush (ankle, questionable) doesn’t play.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (left shoulder, probable) took limited practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Tannehill should be fine to face the Broncos. It’s not a great matchup, but Tannehill may be forced to throw more than the Dolphins would like.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back, probable) took full practice reps again Friday and is probable for Week 12. This is typical for Romo this season.

Chargers QB Philip Rivers (chest, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Antonio Gates made some headlines when he said that Rivers is playing through a “very severe rib injury.” Rivers should be fine for a pretty good matchup with the Rams, though Peyton Manning had trouble against St. Louis last week, and Rivers only has one touchdown pass (versus three interceptions) in his last two games.

Bills QB Kyle Orton (toe) was removed from the injury report Friday after taking limited practice reps Thursday. Orton looked dreadful against the Dolphins last Thursday night, but has a much better matchup against the Jets. It also helps that the game is indoors.

Texans QB Ryan Mallett (chest, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12.

Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone, out) has been ruled out for Week 12. Mark Sanchez will continue to guide the Eagles’ offense with Foles sidelined. Sanchez has the second highest YPA (8.54) of all quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts. Aaron Rodgers leads the way with 8.78 YPA.

Patriots QB Tom Brady (ankle, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Brady will be fine for a tough matchup with the Lions.

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (left wrist, probable) took full practice reps all week and is probable for Week 12. Bortles is expected to face the Colts, and could see a lot of garbage time if Jacksonville falls behind early. Bortles made his NFL debut in the second half of the Jaguars’ previous meeting with the Colts, and he threw for 223 yards and two scores in two quarters of play.

It certainly would follow Ravens QB Joe Flacco's trend of exploiting bad secondaries this season. In four games against pass defenses ranked in the bottom 10, Flacco has completed 65.9 percent of his throws and has averaged 281.5 yards passing. He has thrown 10 touchdowns and three interceptions for a 112.0 passer rating. The Saints are the NFL's ninth-worst pass defense, and they looked even worse in allowing Andy Dalton to regain his confidence.

The biggest concern with Flacco's inconsistency is he typically has his "down" games on the road. Since the start of the 2013 season, Flacco's passer rating on the road is 73.1, the fifth worst in the NFL over that span.

The Cardinals play late on Sunday, so he won’t be an attractive start, especially in a bad matchup with the Seahawks.

Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) practiced fully Wednesday. Matthews now has 15-285-4 in 11 quarters with Mark Sanchez. That works out to 5.5-104-1.5 over a normal, four-quarter game.

Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Marshall should be fine to play in a great matchup against the Bucs.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Since Week 6, Landry has been the #23 WR in PPR formats, averaging 5.0 catches for 48 yards and 0.5 touchdowns. The shoulder isn’t much of a concern.

Falcons WR Julio Jones (illness) did not practice Wednesday. This shouldn’t impact Jones’s status for Week 12.

Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Megatron often rests early in the week. No worries here.

Vikings WR Greg Jennings (rib) did not practice Wednesday. Consider Jennings iffy to play against his old team. Charles Johnson is on the radar as a Sneaky Start since Jarius Wright is also gimpy with a hamstring injury.

Chiefs WR A.J. Jenkins (shoulder, out) did not practice Wednesday.

Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. This is probably a day of rest for Jeffery, but we’ll monitor his progress this week. Owners will want him available for a great matchup against the Buccaneers.

Titans WR Justin Hunter (knee) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Hunter wasn’t limited against the Steelers, so for now we’ll assume he’ll be out there against the Eagles. If he’s out, Nate Washington will be a Sneaky Start in a great matchup.

Bills WR Chris Hogan (hip) practiced fully Wednesday. Hogan has averaged 12.6 fantasy points in PPR formats since Week 6.

Falcons WR Devin Hester (wrist) practiced fully Wednesday.

Jets WR T.J. Graham (neck) practiced fully Wednesday.

Browns WR Josh Gordon (not injury related) took limited practice reps Wednesday. Gordon is currently ranked as our #13 WR for Week 12. Last year, after being suspended for the first two games, Gordon returned (with QB Brian Hoyer) in Week 3 and caught 10 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings. It’s very difficult to bench him in a great matchup with the Falcons.
