After loss to Bears, Giants HC rips team

After watching the Bears rip through that defense with ease Saturday night, Giants HC Tom Coughlin has had enough of the hype.
Saying that "you have to earn everything that is said about you," Coughlin chastised the media for over-hyping his team and fired warning shots toward his healthy and injured players for believing it. If the depth everyone speaks about is really there, it clearly wasn't evident to Coughlin in the Giants' 17-3 loss to the Bears.
"I just think that for so long we've (read that) we've got so much depth. I don't know what you're watching, but the guys that are supposed to be the depth have hardly even practiced," Coughlin said yesterday. "I think you're talking about something that looks good but hasn't really materialized. Until we get this thing straightened around with everybody on the field, this rotation and this depth that we're talking about really is a nonfactor right now."
The Giants were missing five defensive starters Saturday night - safety Kenny Phillips (knee), LB Antonio Pierce (foot), CB Aaron Ross (hamstring), DTChris Canty (hamstring) and LB Michael Boley (hip). None of them is expected to practice in full this week, and Boley and Canty - whom Coughlin revealed yesterday has a "torn" hamstring - could still be out a few more weeks.
