Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. tested negative for COVID-19, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. The Browns team as a whole has zero positive tests. This comes after Beckham was ill and the Indianapolis Colts closed their facility for positive COVID-19 tests.

OBJ is a go as of now. It would not be surprising to see the Browns test their players Friday and Saturday prior to Sunday's game with the Colts news.

Teams are going to play it safe when players exhibit any signs of an illness, and that is what happened here. OBJ has not tested positive for the virus, and will likely be free to rejoin the team when he is symptom-free. Lamar Jackson was listed with an illness on Thursday of last week and was able to play on Sunday. As of now, there is no reason to think that this instance will not follow the same patterns as what we saw with the Ravens quarterback. Still, this is a situation to monitor.

OBJ had his best game as a Brown last week, and hopes to continue playing well against a tough Colts defense with a rejuvenated Xavier Rhodes expected to see time on him. Beckham falls into the WR2 range for Week 5.

The Browns are trying to find the right balance between utilizing the special skills of receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and not trying too hard to force the ball to him.

Coach Kevin Stefanski explained to PFT by phone after Sunday’s 49-38 that one of the challenges of having a weapon like OBJ is getting him involved in games sooner than later.

“I’ve got to do a better job of getting him involved early,” Stefanski said. “I feel like I can do better."

The story said Stefanski said Beckham is someone who can change the game if he gets his chances early. It could even be as simple a run play in addition to throwing him the ball. It all seems like good news for owners who took a shot on Beckham after he had a down year in 2019.
