New York Giants running back Shane Vereen was cleared from the concussion protocol and is expected to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions, according to a source.
Vereen suffered a concussion in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys. It was his first game back since tearing his triceps in a Week 3 win over the Washington Redskins.
The versatile and running back was a limited participant in practice all week. He only took part in the non-contact portions of the workouts.
Related players: Rashad Jennings, Paul Perkins, Bobby Rainey
Vereen will have to battle Jennings and Perkins for carries but should resume his role as the team's third down back ahead of Rainey. Vereen is much safer in deeper PPR leagues.
