According to Paul Gutierrez on Twitter, Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs missed Thursday's practice session.

Jacobs was listed as 'DNP' on Wednesday, but that was just an estimated practice report required by the NFL. Thursday is their first actual practice due to the short week. Jacobs has been handed a true workhorse role for the Raiders, and is on pace for over 400 carries, managing his reps during the week is likely both in the player's, and the team's best interests. He is expected to play this weekend. Jacobs is our 10th ranked running back for Week 3.

Josh Jacobs said he would like to have 60 receptions this season. He should easily double last year’s 20, but some fantasy experts and national writers got a little stressed out when the Raiders signed veteran Theo Riddick over the weekend.

As the story points out, Riddick is a nice pass-catching back who once caught 80 balls for the Lions, but was on the couch before the Raiders signed him. The story feels Riddick is there for depth only. Jacobs' reception potential is a big question for potential owners in PPR leagues this season.

Riddick signed with Denver last season but never made it on the field after a shoulder injury. His is a third-down, pass-catching back which is mostly bad news for Jacobs, as the word around the team was Jacobs would have an increased role in the passing game this season. The signing of Riddick could put a damper on Jacobs' role in the passing game and his fantasy value.

Josh Jacobs proved that he has soft hands both last season and at Alabama, but was not used much as a receiver out of the backfield as a rookie. He had a strong 74% catch rate, but lacked opportunity, catching 20 of just 27 targets. The running back position as a whole was heavily targeted by the Raiders with 117 passes being funneled to the position last season (10th most in the NFL). The Raiders failed to make any impact additions to the backfield this offseason, instead choosing to stick with Jalen Richard, while adding more pass-catching backs by drafting college wide receiver/wildcat quarterback Lynn Bowden Jr., and signing veteran receiving back Devontae Booker. 60 receptions would mean tripling his rookie season numbers. Josh Jacobs is our 11th ranked running back for the 2020 season, but he's going to have a tough time getting that many receptions with Jalen Richard and Lynn Bowden on the roster.
