It would seem to make sense for the team to see more of Mills, but the Texans look to be committed to Taylor, even after a home loss to a bad Jets team. Taylor has an 82.4 QBR with five TDs and four INTs in five starts. Meanwhile, last time we saw Mills was a 38-22 loss to the Rams. Mills threw for 310 yards and two scores in that game. For the season, Mills has an 80.2 QBR with seven TDs and eight INTs in six starts and seven games.

Culley says that Taylor, who has been designated for return off IR, did take some first-team reps last week. Taylor appears to be close to a possible return and the team has said he'll get the job back when healthy. That remains to be seen. Mills threw for over 300 yards and two TDs trying to play catch-up in a loss to the Rams this past week.

If he's able to play this week, we now have to assume it will be Mills to the bench. Taylor should at least be a slight upgrade. Taylor rushed for 40 yards in Week 1 and rushed for a TD in Week 2. He also threw for two TDs in Week 1 and one in Week 2 before getting hurt. Taylor would get the Rams in Week 8 if he's able to stay on the practice field this week.

The tweet went on to say there is no word on Taylor's IR status, but Taylor will be ramped up and not thrown in immediately. It seems like Mills could get at least one more start before Taylor would be ready to go. At that point, the team will need to decide if they want to evaluate Mills for the rest of the season or go back to the veteran Taylor. Either way, most of the Texan offense is a struggle to play in fantasy lineups.

It doesn’t sound like anyone should expect to see Tyrod Taylor in the lineup when the Texans take on the Colts in Week 6. Texans head coach David Culley said he’s not expecting Taylor to come off of injured reserve this week.

Mills has started the last three games for Houston. He had his best outing to date in Sunday’s 25-22 loss to the Patriots and it looks like he’ll get at least one more chance to run the offense before Taylor is back in the picture, the story said.
