Panthers send Irvin to IR and released 23 others

The Panthers sent rookie Corvey Irvin to injured reserve and released 23 other players in paring down to 53 players at the league's roster deadline Saturday evening.

Irvin, a third-round pick in this year's draft, suffered a knee injury during the second half of the preseason finale against Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Per Bears head coach Matt Eberflus: Ryan Bates remains in the concussion protocol. Elijah Hicks (ankle) and D'Andre Swift (groin) won't practice.

Teven Jenkins will be limited.

This is definitely a situation to keep an eye on, as Johnson would have a huge workload if Swift were to miss Week 12. Homer has three rush attempts and zero targets on the year.
