QB Derek Carr to stay with Saints in 2025

A new head coach doesn't appear to mean a new starting quarterback in New Orleans.

After several talks with Derek Carr about his 2025 compensation, the Saints are converting most of his salary this year into a signing bonus, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Saturday.

Considering Carr is now set to make his full $40 million salary in 2025, Garafolo added that New Orleans' conversion indicates the team intends to move forward with him as QB1 for the upcoming season.

Fantasy Impact:

The offense was quite disappointing in 2024, but there's no denying they dealt with plenty of health issues, as well. Carr will bring some stability while New Orleans looks to build around Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, and Rashid Shaheed once again.

Fantasy Impact:

We'll see where the Seahawks end up landing, but we can presume that the answer probably isn't Sam Howell. As for the Raiders, they now have a far more consistent option to bridge the gap to their future franchise QB.

Fantasy Impact:

Kirk will look for new employment on an increasingly fertile WR free agent landscape after a disappointing 27-catch 2024 performance in which he logged only eight games. Brian Thomas Jr. is already appropriately earmarked for a WR1 season, but this certainly doesn't hurt things.

Seahawks WR DK Metcalf requests trade

Days before free agency, the 27-year-old Metcalf immediately becomes the top receiver available.

There's no doubt there are plenty of teams that would be in the market for Metcalf's services, but it remains to be seen if this is a power move after Tyler Lockett's release or not. If Metcalf does end up leaving, JSN will absolutely rocket up WR rankings.
