Rams WR Cooper Kupp (ankle) eyeing Week 7 return

Saints quarterback Derek Carr left Monday night’s loss early with an oblique injury and said afterward that he wanted to keep playing but physically couldn’t throw a football.

“Not good, but we’ll get an MRI and all that tomorrow and figure it out,” Carr said when asked how he was feeling after the game. “I would’ve done anything to stay out there and keep fighting, but I couldn’t.”

Carr said he felt something in his oblique and wasn’t able to make a throwing motion afterward. He isn’t sure the nature of the injury and isn’t sure if he can play on Sunday against the Buccaneers, the story said. Haener is listed as the team's QB2 and came on in relief of Carr against the Chiefs. Rattler is the team's QB3.

Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice will have surgery on Tuesday to determine the extent of the knee injury that he suffered eight days ago. Via multiple reports, he got some good news on Monday.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Rice might have avoided a torn ACL. He nevertheless needs to have an LCL repair.

As Rapoport characterizes it, Rice’s season “is expected to be over.” Separately, Rapoport says that Rice could miss “potentially three months” due to the LCL repair. That timeline would not end his season.

The news is starting to get a little more clear for Rice. Best case seems to be a return for the playoffs in three months. As the story said, Rice has eight felony accounts lurking. Florio went on to say that now that Rice will be sidelined due to injury, it makes sense to resolve the charges and take the suspension this year. While he would still lose his game checks, he would not lose the ability to play any more games than the injury will cause him to miss, the story pointed out.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was on the list of players dealing with injuries at head coach Sean McVay’s Monday press conference, but he isn’t expected to miss any game action.

McVay said that Stafford is dealing with back soreness after Sunday’s 24-19 loss to the Packers.

The Rams have a bye this week and McVay said that he expects Stafford to be a full participant in practice when they return for Week 7, the story said. Stafford was sacked three times and hit 10 times as well.
