It appears rookie TE Davon Drew has been released one practice into his tenure as a Dolphin.
Drew practiced with his new team on Monday after being claimed off the waiver wire over the weekend. But the East Carolina standout must not have met the team's expectations considering the National Football Post is reporting he was released with an injury designation on Tuesday.
The Ravens' fifth-round pick had been limited by an ankle injury he'd played the exhibition season with before eventually getting released by Baltimore.
His departure leaves the Dolphins with three tight ends starter Anthony Fasano, backup Joey Haynos, and rookie John Nalbone - on the 53-man roster heading into Sunday's season-opener against the Falcons.
Haynos, who is beginning his second-season in the NFL, is expected to replace David Martin in the team's two tight end package. Martin was placed on injured reserve because of an injured right knee.
