Bengals designated WR John Ross for return from injured reserve.

Ross suffered a shoulder injury in Week 4 against the Steelers. He is eligible to play in Week 14 against the Jets. But he can return to practice. He had 16 catches for 328 yards and three touchdowns in his first four games. He’s still a boom or bust play, especially with him not returning until the fantasy playoffs. But it is another weapon for Ryan Finley with the status of A.J. Green very uncertain.

Garafalo is saying the injury could cost Ross and the Bengals in the range of a month or so. Boyd continues to be the number-one with Tate now the WR2. Damion Willis and Alex Erickson are next up on the depth chart after Tate. A.J. Green is still looking like he's a few weeks away from returning.

Ross is just 92nd on our WR list heading into the season. Even with A.J. Green out of the lineup, Ross isn't considered a safe fantasy play but it looks like he'll be ready for Week 1.

Head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday that Ross won’t play in Thursday’s game against the Giants, but that he’s expected back at practice a few days later.

Taylor said Sunday would be the target day for Ross to return, giving him a full two weeks of practice before the team's opener with Seattle.
