Schaub declares himself ready for opener

After participating in a second consecutive practice, quarterback Matt Schaub is certain that he will be in the starting lineup Sunday when the Texans play the New York Jets at Reliant Stadium.

Schaub suffered a sprained left ankle in the third preseason game against Minnesota and has been undergoing treatment to prepare him for the regular-season opener.

“I'm very confident that I will be,” Schaub said Wednesday about being in the starting lineup. “It's feeling good. It's getting better, just progressing. We're getting excited to go out there and start our season.”
