Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (hamstring) was dressed for practice and participating in the portion we were allowed to see today.

Pelissero said it's a good sign Cook could be ready on a short week against the Rams after not playing last week, and not practicing Monday. Even if he plays it's going to be a tough matchup.

The Vikings had six carries for 14 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Bills. They could use Dalvin Cook, who was inactive with a hamstring injury.

The second-year running back called himself “day to day” for this week, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reports.

The problem is the Vikings have a short week, with a Thursday night game against the Rams. Cook said he feels good, giving him a “good chance” to play. But Cook said over the weekend that he “definitely” would return this week. He also had expressed optimism about playing in Week 3 before missing practice last week.

With the Vikings facing one of the worst teams in the league this week, Dalvin Cook being ruled out is a huge blow for his fantasy owners. Those savvy enough to grab Latavius Murray off the waiver wire will reap the rewards, as Minnesota should enjoy a positive game script for nearly all 60-minutes, setting him up for a massive workload. Murray was involved in the passing game during his time in Oakland, but the Vikings haven't used him in that capacity thus far. Now that Jerrick McKinnon is in San Francisco, that very well could change on Sunday. Mike Boone likely serves as Murray's backup and could see a good amount of work if the game gets out of hand.

It's a bad sign when players don't put in at least a limited practice on Thursdays, but it isn't necessarily a nail in Cook's Week 3 coffin. Until we have more information, make sure Latavius Murray is owned in your league. If Cook can't go, he instantly becomes an RB2.
