Chargers TE Antonio Gates likely to see double coverage vs. Jets

The Seattle Seahawks underestimated Antonio Gates, and he scorched them for it.

The Jets probably won't make that mistake Sunday.

"He is a guy that, you have to somebody underneath, and over the top, at all times," linebacker David Harris said.

Fantasy Impact:

It sounds like Gates will see plenty of attention from the Jets, which may make for another quiet week from the future Hall of Famer. It should also allow the other San Diego receivers -- Keenan Allen, Eddie Royal and Malcom Floyd -- plenty of one-on-one opportunities.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen (groin, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 3. Allen should play against the Bills. Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal would get a bump if Allen can’t go, and the team would presumably want to get Ladarius Green on the field more in 12 personnel. The Chargers play in the early round of games.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen (groin) was added to the injury report Thursday after taking limited practice reps. Midweek downgrades are not a good sign. Allen’s schedule starts to let up this week, so an injury would take some of the wind out of his sails heading into Week 3.

Marcedes Lewis placed on IR/return

The Jaguars placed tight end Marcedes Lewis on injured reserve/designated for return.

That will keep Lewis out for at least eight weeks, though he can begin practicing after six. That fits the time frame coach Gus Bradley announced earlier this week for Lewis, who suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to Washington.

Fantasy Impact:

The team is pretty shorthanded on offense now with Marquis Lee and Allen Robinson slated to start at WR and WRs Allen Hurns and Cecil Shorts in question. Clay Harbor is next up on the depth chart at TE.

The Oakland Raiders, looking to bolster their wide receiving corps, signed fourth-year pass catcher Vincent Brown to a one-year deal, multiple sources told FOXSports.com.

Brown, who was released by the San Diego Chargers last month, worked out for the team Monday morning and passed a physical.

Rehabbing from a calf injury, Brown could be the jolt Oakland's offense needs. Brown was selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft and hauled in 41 receptions for 472 yards last season.

Fantasy Impact:

Brown was unimpressive last year as the Chargers WR2 opposite of Keenan Allen, who emerged as a rookie.
