The Broncos are listing QB Russell Wilson as questionable. Nathaniel Hackett says he's a game-time decision.

Brett Rypien would be in-line to start as the only other active quarterback on the 53-man roster. This could be seen as a precipitous dropoff in a typical year, but Wilson has been awful this season, topping 300 yards passing only once and failing to best a 60% completion rate in four-of-six games.

Steve Wilks says P.J. Walker will start this week at QB.

Walker wasn't impressive in Week 6 but the Panthers likely have no other choice here. Mayfield is still hurt and Darnold was just designated to return, but will need more time.

Based on Kyren Williams’ reps with the first-team offense in joint practices against Cincinnati this summer, then McVay’s effusive praise following those reps, I think Williams figures to have a big role when he’s back.

This makes a lot of sense given the status of Akers likely not being part of the team going forward. Williams is still on IR, however, so we're a bit away from seeing what Williams can do. But Henderson hasn't been that impressive in his lead back role. The story said Williams is probably not going to be a high-volume power-yards guy, but he sees the levels of McVay’s outside zone well and can work into the passing game.

Sam Darnold (ankle) has been designated to return from injured reserve and will be able to practice Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Darnold now has 21 days to get ready. But given Mayfield's injury timetable and P.J. Walker's struggles last week, Darnold could end up starting in Week 7. It's a fluid situation at this point, but not one to get excited about in most fantasy leagues.

Denver Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett has a sore quarterback in Russell Wilson, making the veteran signal-caller questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Jets amid growing frustration in the locker room after Monday night's 19-16 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Wilson, who suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter Monday, underwent an MRI exam Tuesday morning. Hackett said Wilson will be evaluated through the week to gauge his participation level in practices as well as his availability for Sunday's game against the Jets at Empower Field at Mile High.

"He'll be day-to-day. We'll go ahead and take a look at that and monitor [each day],'' Hackett said. "... We'll get a feel for him [Tuesday] and into [Wednesday].''

Hackett said the hamstring injury influenced "a little bit there'' how he called plays for Wilson for the remainder of the fourth quarter and into overtime Monday. The Broncos finished with minus-9 net passing yards in the second half and overtime combined in the loss, the story said. The Broncos are expecting Wilson to do everything he can to play. It looks like Rypien would get the start if Wilson can't go.

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson added another ache Monday night to an already painful start to his first season with the team as he suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of Denver's 19-16 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.

"I kind of scrambled to move around on one, I had to throw it away, it kind of got me pretty good in the fourth quarter,'' Wilson said. "Just tried to play through it ... just trying to find a way to win the game.''

Wilson played through the injury into overtime, but after showing signs of life in the first half, completed just three passes in the second half and OT. Wilson received treatment following the game and will be evaluated further Tuesday morning. As of Monday night, the belief was that he would be taken for an MRI exam as well, the story said. Rypien is Wilson's backup.

Head coach Sean McVay was quoted as saying "there is a possibility that we could try to help him look for a fresh new start with another team. That's something that we've explored. If that doesn't come to fruition, then we'll figure out a solution (on) how to best move forward with him."

The former second-round selection has found himself in the Rams' doghouse, though whether that's because of physical limitations or otherwise is unclear. Darrell Henderson became the team's de facto RB1 in Week 6, rushing for 43 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries and adding two receptions in the passing game. He would continue in that role if the team ships off Akers.

Rams HC Sean McVay said Cam Akers will not be at practice today or play on Sunday. He said the team is "working through" some things with Akers.

This is quite the surprise and shoots Darrell Henderson way up the rankings, with Malcolm Brown presumably acting as the team's RB2 in Week 6. Brown, who has operated as the team's third running back over the last two games, has accrued all of 10 snaps this season after spending 2021 with the Dolphins. Henderson has a great matchup against the Panthers, who rank 23rd in aFPA to the running back position.

Panthers QB Baker Mayfield not going on IR as of now, leaving open the possibility he could be back within four games.

Mayfield received second opinions on his high ankle sprain that confirmed there’s no major damage and no surgery is needed, per sources, the tweet said. With Darnold still out, Walker is expected to get any starts Mayfield will miss. Outside of deep superflex leagues, Walker looks to be someone to stay away from right now in typical redraft leagues.
